It’s a chilly Friday night, I’m watching SBS Food and the very charismatic David Rocco is in Naples eating pizza fritta, a delicious looking fried Italian pizza 🍕🇮🇹 made by a team of strong women.

David’s tucking in with gusto and looking like he’s really enjoying it. Never mind the pizza fritta, what I want to know is what would David Rocco think of the substandard baguettes 🥖 that I’ve been churning out lately? He’ll have to come to the Yarra Valley to try them - I’ve actually developed an overnight rise dough now you’ll be thrilled to know - but I’m sure David would be on the next flight from Naples if he knew there were some really average baguettes on offer at Sarah C Clarey’s house, lol.

I’ll serve David my baguette toasted with some cholesterol-lowering margarine and some really cheap Coles brand apricot jam - it’s my personal favourite, lol. Nothing but the best for David Rocco. I’m sure he’d appreciate me helping him keep his cholesterol in check after all that fried pizza he’s been ingesting in Naples. 🤣

While I wait to be discovered by David Rocco, I took these shots of the moon with clouds in the garden last night. I love how the white clouds are lit up in the dark evening sky by the light of the moon.

In other news, my light property styling work can be seen over at Sarah C Clarey Styling with my styling work on a mudbrick home in the Bend of Islands, and more styling work to show shortly.

My photography website is progressing nicely with photographic prints on fine art papers available soon.

And now a track for your Friday night - ‘I Love It’ by Icona Pop (feat. Charli XCX), one of my favourite tracks for its upbeat energy and strong lyrics and I’m sure it also sums up what David Rocco thinks about that incredible pizza fritta, lol 🍕

I’m watching the beautiful Eva Longoria in ‘Eva Longoria Searching for France’ 🇫🇷 on SBS Food as she strolls the streets of Paris searching for her morning baguette 🥖.

It’s reminding me of my time in the City of Light back at the tender age of 18 when I ate more than my fair share of baguettes lol, and I was particularly partial to a ‘jambon beurre’, a half baguette with ham and butter, eaten while wandering the streets of St Germain.

Recently I have in fact been baking my own baguettes 🥖, which is asking for trouble, but I think I’ll be okay with portion control this time as these ones don’t taste like they came out of a French boulangerie, they just taste like I made semi-ok, somewhat subpar bread that only needed a one-hour rise lol. There’s no slow fermentation or high temperature steam baking going on here, no. What an absolute walk in the park it is to make a sh*tty Sarah C Clarey homemade ‘baguette’ lol 🤣

Whilst sadly not authentic, my ‘baguettes’ aren’t bad - they’re good enough for me given I can’t get to France anytime soon to get the real deal.

When I haven’t been baking rip-off baguettes lol I’ve been taking photographs, such as these twilight shots of the garden and one I’ve titled ‘Winter Moon’ 🌙 that will be available soon to purchase as a print on the website.

The website is progressing and will be live soon with a collection of photographic prints on fine art papers available for purchase.

If you haven’t already, head on over to Sarah C Clarey Styling to view my light property styling work and I’ll have more styling work to share soon.

And now a sweeping, moody track for your evening - ‘Chains of Love’ by Charli XCX. Charli knows the chains of love won’t break, just like the deep undying love I have for baguettes will never break.
🥖 ❤️

Night y’all ✨🌚🔥

It’s a chilly Thursday night here in the Yarra Valley and I’m relaxing in front of ‘Adam Richman Eats Italy’ 🇮🇹 as he devours a tasty looking Torta Duchessa Di Parma cake 🍰 in an Italian pasticceria.

Adam’s calling it ‘a party in a cake’ 🥳. He certainly looks like he’s having a wild time in that pasticceria - if he doesn’t tone it down I reckon the pastry chefs might ask him to leave at any minute, lol 🤣

While Adam Richman’s over in Italy causing a scene in a pasticceria, I’m down here in Lilydale in quite the party mood myself lol 🎉, lying here under the navy blankets with my glass of cheap Malbec 🍷. It’s a really wild night for me, alone with SBS food channel - I’m having a real rager in here tbh. 🥂

In exciting news, I’ve now done a series of posts of my recent styling work at a mudbrick property over on my new styling account Sarah C Clarey Styling

Head on over to take a look at my light property styling work and I’d love you to follow me there if you’re interested in seeing more of my styling posts. I’ll continue to post my art and photography on this account of course.

Before you head on over there, enjoy these shots of the Yarra Valley hills at sunset 🌅 with a soft grey dreamy cloudscape, ☁️ captured just as the sun slipped down behind the hills.

My photography website with photographic prints on premium papers is still in the works and coming soon.

And now for a track whose title feels fitting as I move forward into property styling - ‘Green Light’ by Lorde. 🚦💚

Night y’all ✨🔥🌚

It’s a chilly winter’s evening here in the Yarra Valley and I’m relaxing in front of SBS Food Channel, watching Franco Noriega put together a delicious-looking Peruvian-inspired salad 🥗

I must say Franco is rather attractive and seems to really know his way around a kitchen. He’s almost as attractive as some of the footballers playing in the World Cup, lol ⚽️

Does Franco know his way around a soccer pitch as well as he does the kitchen? Who’s to say, but as a chef he’s certainly doing a fine job with this Peruvian salad - so congrats Franco, I won’t be red-carding you for this salad lol and Donald Trump won’t need to intervene in this matter ✋🤣

My ‘Nocturne In Black, Gold and Navy’ exhibition has now finished after a great month at Round Bird artspace. Thank you to Jessie and Evan for having me.

Never one to rest on my laurels lol, I’ve recently been preparing to start working as a property stylist and will soon be providing light property styling for homes going on the market.

Over the coming weeks I’ll be getting my new property styling business up and running, alongside continuing with my photography and mixed-media work, and I’ll have some photos of my styling work to show soon over on my new styling account.

This night photograph overlooking the lights of Yarra Glen was taken on the drive home recently from styling a mudbrick property that is now for sale in the Bend of Islands. It was a long day spent styling the house but I couldn’t resist pulling the car over to capture the lights when I saw those golden lights shimmering in the dark.

Photography website is still coming soon btw.

And now for a track, cause DJ Sarah C Clarey is back, lol 🤣 - and tonight I present you with ‘Sweet Disposition’ by The Temper Trap, with its soaring vocals, uplifting sound and shimmering guitar 🎸.

I used to do my letterpress printing to this song back when I was running Sarah C Clarey and printing wedding stationery on my Frederick Ullmer platen press, so this track has a special place in my heart for powering me through a lot of printing back in the day 💪🏻

Night y’all ✨🌚🔥

The World Cup has still got me glued to the television lol ⚽️, and it’s been amazing watching the incredible Lionel Messi score his six goals for Argentina 🇦🇷 across the tournament so far, breaking the all-time World Cup scoring record in what is clearly a standout performance by a spectacular footballer.

I needed a break from all the soccer so I ducked down to my local Coles Mooroolbark earlier to grab some essentials (who says they busted me buying cheap red wine in the Liquorland?!🍷 lol, I may have had a quick browse but you absolutely cannot prove I left with two bottles of criminally underpriced cab sav in my hot little hands 🙌🏻🤩🤣).

I may or may not intend to enjoy a splash of vino in front of the football later with my winter’s dinner of beef stew and dumplings lol 🥘😝

On my way out I looked up and was struck by the beauty of this stunning twilight sky with its shades of apricot, lavender and powder blue 🌅 and I couldn’t resist getting a few shots.

My solo exhibition ‘Nocturne In Black, Gold and Navy’ is still on show Round Bird Food & Wine Merchants in the beautiful upstairs artspace until 7 July - head on down to Round Bird at 170 Main Street, Lilydale to view the show and grab a coffee or a delicious bite to eat from the café while you’re there.

There are 19 works on show and almost all are available for purchase along with a selection of Sarah C Clarey jewellery and my foil-stamped acrylic paint greeting cards, so drop by Round Bird Artspace before 7 July to see the Sarah C Clarey exhibition while it’s in its final week.

And now a track fitting for Lionel Messi with his six goal all-time World Cup record performance, cause he’s kind of wearing the crown 👑 with this one - ‘You Should See Me In A Crown’ by Billie Eilish. Here’s to you, Messi. Long may you reign.

There’s a lot of World Cup action on SBS at the moment and I have to say I’m loving it 🤩 I’ve turned into Sarah C Clarey, football fan tragic lol ⚽️ who definitely does not understand the offside rule and who finds almost all the players extremely attractive lol as well as of course very skilled at handling the ball 🤣⚽️

While I eagerly wait for another game to come on, I ducked outside earlier to the usual scene of my photographic crimes to capture the view between the trees in the garden. I got a photo of the crescent moon thru the clouds too, just the thing for a moon-fixated night photographer, and there’s a glimpse of me there as well. 🌚

My solo exhibition ‘Nocturne In Black, Gold and Navy’ is still showing until 7 July Round Bird Food & Wine Merchants in the beautiful upstairs artspace, so head down to Round Bird Artspace on Main Street in Lilydale to view the Sarah C Clarey show, with 19 works on display. You’ll find a small range of my Sarah C Clarey curated jewellery also available for purchase, as well as my foil-stamped acrylic paint greeting cards.

My photographer’s website with photographic prints on premium papers is still in the works and coming soon, so check back soon for more details on the website launch.

And now for a track inspired by the incredible performance I saw yesterday by goalkeeper Eloy Room of Curaçao in the World Cup match between his country and Ecuador, where Room achieved an amazing 15 saves in the game, stopping Ecuador from scoring and almost achieving a World Cup record number of saves in a match.

The track is ‘DNA.’ by Kendrick Lamar, which seems a fitting soundtrack for a fierce goalkeeper who spent ninety minutes demonstrating extraordinary resilience, instinct and determination. It was a 0-0 match in the end but Eloy’s goalkeeping was the standout performance and really made it a great game to watch. He really held it all. ⚽️🔥

Night ✨🖤🌚

I ducked outside the cottage at 6pm this evening and captured a few dark-toned cloud and treescape photographs before heading back inside to get under the navy blankets in bed and watch more SBS Food Channel, lol - maybe there’ll be some soccer on later? ⚽️ I’m quite partial to a little World Cup action, should it be on later while I’m relaxing with my bowl of leftover goulash, haha 🍲🤣

But for now, my solo exhibition ‘Nocturne In Black, Gold and Navy’ is showing upstairs at the beautiful Round Bird Food & Wine Merchants in Lilydale until 7 July, with 19 works on display including photographic works on canvas, mixed media works and a collaborative midnight blue diptych 💙 created with my friend and fellow artist Elliot M Bain featuring his experimental bleach intervention work.

I spent most of today tagging and styling some Sarah C Clarey jewellery which I’ll be taking down to the exhibition at Round Bird Food & Wine Merchants tomorrow, so there’ll be a range of earrings and a small selection of necklaces available for purchase, as well as my foil-stamped and acrylic paint refinished greeting cards.

Head down to Round Bird for a coffee, wine or a bite to eat and take a wander upstairs to the Round Bird Artspace while you’re there to visit the exhibition.

I’d love to hear your thoughts so feel free to leave me a comment or a DM if you have a chance to visit the exhibition ✨

And now for some tunes 🎶

Tonight I’m dropping 🤣 (do I think I’m Sarah C Clarey the DJ now lol?!) ‘Seasons (Waiting On You) by Future Islands.

I’ve loved this song ever since seeing Samuel T. Herring’s incredible performance of it on David Letterman back in March 2014. If you’ve never seen it, do yourself a favour and check it out on YouTube, it’s a cracker.

Night 🔥🖤🌚

I’m watching Nigella whipping up a lemon yogurt cake 🍋 on SBS Food channel, now that I can relax a little and report that the Sarah C Clarey ‘Nocturne in Black, Gold and Navy’ exhibition is now installed and on show in the upstairs artspace at the beautiful Round Bird Food and Wine Merchants in Lilydale

There are 19 works on show with a dark nocturnal theme, comprising some of my earlier works - a mixed media series of photographic works with mosaics - and my newer navy toned photographic works on canvas, a self portrait photographic piece, two night photographic works with an abstract applied paint technique, as well as two collaborative works created by myself and artist Elliot M Bain, featuring dark self portrait photographs that applied a bleach intervention to, to lighten the surface of the photographs, before I applied paint to create the final diptych works, titled ‘Liquid In Midnight Blue I’ and ‘Liquid In Midnight Blue II’.

Come to the opening event for a drink and to view my solo exhibition ‘Nocturne in Black, Gold and Navy’:

Sunday 14 June, 1-3pm
Round Bird Food and Wine Merchants
170 Main Street, Lilydale

I’ll be there of course, so come and say hi. Let’s make it an afternoon to remember - art 🖼️ and a drink 🍷, and some nice people talking about art for two hours, what’s not to like lol?! Sounds delightful 🍾💃

All welcome ✨

‘Nocturne in Black, Gold and Navy’ runs from Sunday 7 June until Tuesday 7 July 2026, so head on down to Round Bird for a coffee and a bite to eat ☕️🍰 and have a look at the show.

I hope you’ll enjoy my exhibition - I’ve enjoyed putting it together and thank you to for exhibiting my first solo show, and to curator Jessie Bleakley for being excellent to work with, as well as to owner Evan for having me at Round Bird Food and Wine Merchants.

And now for an atmospheric electronic track that Elliot and I listened to when working on ‘Liquid In Midnight Blue I’ and ‘II’ - ‘Hydrogen Helium Lithium Leviathan’ by Scottish electronic duo Boards of Canada.

Enjoy 🌚🔥

It’s been raining all day here in the Yarra Valley, but I ducked outside this evening and captured a few more cloudscape photographs. Clearly I’m fixated on clouds again, lol, but they are things of beauty in a night sky are they not? ☁️🌌

I’ve also been working this evening on the title cards and the titling of works for my upcoming exhibition at and I’ve now settled on a title for the show: ‘Nocturne in Black, Gold and Navy’.

A nocturne is an art and music term sometimes referring to a musical composition inspired by the night, and is often associated with atmospheric piano works by Frédéric Chopin. Given my work is night photography on canvas with mixed-media, I felt that ‘nocturne’ really fit the description of what the exhibition is about as a collection of my recent works.

The title also references the tonal palette running throughout this body of work - black, navy, deep blues and gold glass mosaic embellishments.

The Sarah C Clarey ‘Nocturne in Black, Gold and Navy’ exhibition will run upstairs in the artspace at Round Bird Food & Wine Merchants in Lilydale from Sunday June 7 until Tuesday July 7. 🌚🐦‍⬛

I hope you’ll all head on down and enjoy a coffee and a delicious bite to eat in the Round Bird café downstairs ☕️ before or after viewing my exhibition upstairs.

There’ll be more Sarah C Clarey exhibition news coming soon and let’s not forget my hotly-anticipated photographer’s website lol is in the works and on the way shortly, but I’ve got to get the exhibition installed first, so one thing at a time, okay?!

Now for the funky, sonically-driven, somewhat futuristic and a little weird but very good ‘Windowlicker’ by Aphex Twin, because frankly it’s a little weird of me to be outside photographing clouds in the dark lol, isn’t it?! At least I’m not also licking windows 🪟😋, that would be like next-level major Richard D. James weird, lol, tho you can’t deny the man is good. 🤣

Night 🌚🔥

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shootin’ stars
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now

————————————————-

There could be some airplanes in the night sky looking like shootin’ stars in some of the dark night landscape shots I’ve used to create my collection of mixed-media photographic canvas works with glass mosaic embellishments, a body of work I created over the last couple of months from some of my favourite night photographs.

I’m very pleased to announce that the collection is soon to be shown in a solo exhibition from Sunday 7 June until Tuesday 7 July, 2026 in the beautiful artspace at Lilydale café, food and wine merchant Round Bird 🐦‍⬛🪺

I’ll announce more soon about the exhibition, but I am very pleased to be showing my work at Round Bird. Their artspace is a wonderful creative space for local artists to exhibit and sell their work, and I am very happy to be exhibiting there - plus they have amazing coffee, food and wine downstairs in the café for you to enjoy before or after visiting the artspace upstairs to view the Sarah C Clarey exhibition ☕️🍰🍷

Here you can see several of my mixed-media works with mosaic embellishment - designed to reflect light once hanging in the home - that will be shown as part of the exhibition.

More details on the Sarah C Clarey exhibition are coming soon, so check back shortly for more info.

Let’s wind down now on this Mother’s Day evening with another B.o.B track - ‘Airplanes’ - and happy Mother’s Day to all the lovely mums out there (of which I am one myself - a mother of two teenage daughters who I love more than I can say)

All mothers know how much we love our children - to use a cliché, a mother’s love is really to the moon and back 🌘

I’ll be looking for a shootin’ star tonight for the mums 💫❤️
