It’s been raining all day here in the Yarra Valley, but I ducked outside this evening and captured a few more cloudscape photographs. Clearly I’m fixated on clouds again, lol, but they are things of beauty in a night sky are they not? ☁️🌌
I’ve also been working this evening on the title cards and the titling of works for my upcoming exhibition at and I’ve now settled on a title for the show: ‘Nocturne in Black, Gold and Navy’.
A nocturne is an art and music term sometimes referring to a musical composition inspired by the night, and is often associated with atmospheric piano works by Frédéric Chopin. Given my work is night photography on canvas with mixed-media, I felt that ‘nocturne’ really fit the description of what the exhibition is about as a collection of my recent works.
The title also references the tonal palette running throughout this body of work - black, navy, deep blues and gold glass mosaic embellishments.
The Sarah C Clarey ‘Nocturne in Black, Gold and Navy’ exhibition will run upstairs in the artspace at Round Bird Food & Wine Merchants in Lilydale from Sunday June 7 until Tuesday July 7. 🌚🐦⬛
I hope you’ll all head on down and enjoy a coffee and a delicious bite to eat in the Round Bird café downstairs ☕️ before or after viewing my exhibition upstairs.
There’ll be more Sarah C Clarey exhibition news coming soon and let’s not forget my hotly-anticipated photographer’s website lol is in the works and on the way shortly, but I’ve got to get the exhibition installed first, so one thing at a time, okay?!
Now for the funky, sonically-driven, somewhat futuristic and a little weird but very good ‘Windowlicker’ by Aphex Twin, because frankly it’s a little weird of me to be outside photographing clouds in the dark lol, isn’t it?! At least I’m not also licking windows 🪟😋, that would be like next-level major Richard D. James weird, lol, tho you can’t deny the man is good. 🤣
Night 🌚🔥
