It’s been raining all day here in the Yarra Valley, but I ducked outside this evening and captured a few more cloudscape photographs. Clearly I’m fixated on clouds again, lol, but they are things of beauty in a night sky are they not? ☁️🌌

I’ve also been working this evening on the title cards and the titling of works for my upcoming exhibition at and I’ve now settled on a title for the show: ‘Nocturne in Black, Gold and Navy’.

A nocturne is an art and music term sometimes referring to a musical composition inspired by the night, and is often associated with atmospheric piano works by Frédéric Chopin. Given my work is night photography on canvas with mixed-media, I felt that ‘nocturne’ really fit the description of what the exhibition is about as a collection of my recent works.

The title also references the tonal palette running throughout this body of work - black, navy, deep blues and gold glass mosaic embellishments.

The Sarah C Clarey ‘Nocturne in Black, Gold and Navy’ exhibition will run upstairs in the artspace at Round Bird Food & Wine Merchants in Lilydale from Sunday June 7 until Tuesday July 7. 🌚🐦‍⬛

I hope you’ll all head on down and enjoy a coffee and a delicious bite to eat in the Round Bird café downstairs ☕️ before or after viewing my exhibition upstairs.

There’ll be more Sarah C Clarey exhibition news coming soon and let’s not forget my hotly-anticipated photographer’s website lol is in the works and on the way shortly, but I’ve got to get the exhibition installed first, so one thing at a time, okay?!

Now for the funky, sonically-driven, somewhat futuristic and a little weird but very good ‘Windowlicker’ by Aphex Twin, because frankly it’s a little weird of me to be outside photographing clouds in the dark lol, isn’t it?! At least I’m not also licking windows 🪟😋, that would be like next-level major Richard D. James weird, lol, tho you can’t deny the man is good. 🤣

Night 🌚🔥

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shootin’ stars
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now

————————————————-

There could be some airplanes in the night sky looking like shootin’ stars in some of the dark night landscape shots I’ve used to create my collection of mixed-media photographic canvas works with glass mosaic embellishments, a body of work I created over the last couple of months from some of my favourite night photographs.

I’m very pleased to announce that the collection is soon to be shown in a solo exhibition from Sunday 7 June until Tuesday 7 July, 2026 in the beautiful artspace at Lilydale café, food and wine merchant Round Bird 🐦‍⬛🪺

I’ll announce more soon about the exhibition, but I am very pleased to be showing my work at Round Bird. Their artspace is a wonderful creative space for local artists to exhibit and sell their work, and I am very happy to be exhibiting there - plus they have amazing coffee, food and wine downstairs in the café for you to enjoy before or after visiting the artspace upstairs to view the Sarah C Clarey exhibition ☕️🍰🍷

Here you can see several of my mixed-media works with mosaic embellishment - designed to reflect light once hanging in the home - that will be shown as part of the exhibition.

More details on the Sarah C Clarey exhibition are coming soon, so check back shortly for more info.

Let’s wind down now on this Mother’s Day evening with another B.o.B track - ‘Airplanes’ - and happy Mother’s Day to all the lovely mums out there (of which I am one myself - a mother of two teenage daughters who I love more than I can say)

All mothers know how much we love our children - to use a cliché, a mother’s love is really to the moon and back 🌘

I’ll be looking for a shootin’ star tonight for the mums 💫❤️

Night 🌚🔥✨

I’m photographing clouds in the Yarra Valley again, these shots taken at sunset overlooking Yarra Glen and my favourite hill and then down lower in the valley, just before it got dark over the hills.

Mum’s back from babysitting the high needs dog again 🐕 over at my brother’s house. He went to Uluru to have an outback experience while Mum had her own experience with the high needs dog, attending to his every dog need.

She’s brought home a couple of fancy microwave dinners that bro gets for her when she goes there - a chimichurri chicken and pearl cous cous and a massaman curry she’s pimping up tonight lol.

I look forward to ingesting this enhanced massaman curry later under my navy blankets, in bed in my cottage, while mum eats hers out there in the big house 🍛

Does that make it sound like my mother lives in a jail? 😆 No, she lives in the big house and I live in the cottage on the same property, but there’s no jail-like living conditions here as yet.

Come to think of it, Archie the slasher cat can be brutal tho - he bites mum like she’s a giant piece of human sushi 🍣 lol, but I wouldn’t really consider him mum’s jail warden. He hasn’t escalated into locking her up yet, warden-style lol, but I’m watching him while making sure he doesn’t come for me next. 🐈‍⬛

My photographer’s website with photographic prints on premium papers is coming soon. I know it appears I am taking my sweet ass time lol but I’ve just got a few things on my plate, including selling my house 🏡, and I’m waiting for the paper samples kit to arrive from the U.S. to choose my stocks.

Sarah C Clarey is busy, okay?! (Now I’m referring to myself in the third person artist name, omg 😆)

But the site is coming soon and I can assure you it will amaze you with the sheer range of options and leave you desperate to buy one of my affordably priced photographic prints.

I’ll go now and do some work, but first let’s enjoy these cloudscape shots while listening to this cool track - ‘Strange Clouds’ by B.o.B feat. Lil Wayne. Check out the video on YouTube, B.o.B is for sure seeing some strange clouds, lol. ☁️🖤🌚🔥

29/04/2026

Right now I’m watching samosas being fried by an Indian chef on SBS food channel and they do look delicious. The presenter is tasting one and saying that the pastry skin on it is ‘blistering’. Mmm, yummy. When’s dinner? 🥘 All this non-stop food channel is making me hungry.

You know what’s really ‘blistering’ though guys?! My jewellery 👑 lol, available now in in the Lilydale Marketplace shopping centre.

It’s blistering cause it’s hot 🔥 haha.

That’s right folks, I’ve got a nice selection of Sarah C Clarey rings for an affordable $10 each, bracelets for $12, letterpress-tag stud earrings for $14, and drop earrings for just $12.

There’s some attractive pieces there if I do say so myself. I’ve also got my refinished foil-stamped greeting cards for $7 each and a selection of framed letterpress prints in store.

Hot, indeed, lol. 🔥 Go buy something from my Sarah C Clarey shelf at before it all sells out and I have to restock to keep up with all you jewellery addicts lol 🤣👑💎

My own addiction to jewellery continues, uncontrolled and unabated, and appears to in fact be getting worse with chronic exposure to the stuff, haha.

And now for a fun song to get you in the shopping mood - please enjoy this piano-driven synth dance track ‘All My Friends’ by LCD Soundsystem - I love this one, nice for going shopping with all your friends come to think of it. 🛍️👯‍♀️

28/04/2026

I’m up late watching SBS Food channel again and this time it’s ‘The Cook and The Chef’ and Simon Bryant is brining a chicken in a bucket 🐓 with Maggie Beer making high-end hamburgers 🍔

Maggie says the barbecue sauce is ‘best if you’ve made it yourself’. Maggie, I have neither the time nor the inclination nor probably the skills lol to make barbecue sauce myself as well as find the time to make your high-end hamburgers Maggie. My barbecue sauce will be coming straight out of an Aldi Colway brand bottle (no Heinz in this house, lol, I’m far too cheap for Heinz 🤣)

Simon’s bucket-brined chicken took two days prep (omg, Simon 😳) and is now thankfully in the oven. This seems like a really high maintenance chicken, Simon. I would really rather just go down to Coles and get a bachelor’s handbag for $12 tbh than stuff around brining chickens in buckets 🐓🪣 lol. Whatever floats your boat Simon, but honestly, it seems like a lot of effort just for a roast chook lol.

Before you head down to Coles to satisfy your insatiable chicken urges 🍗, may I strongly suggest you also head down to local florist on Main Street Croydon, where you’ll find owner Nicki’s glorious fresh and dried flowers 💐, and a lovely selection of homewares, glassware and other pretty things, and also my Sarah C Clarey foil-stamped greeting cards and a small selection of my framed letterpress prints - all now stocked at The Fresh Flower Bar.

Head on in before Mother’s Day and see Nicki, pick up some flowers 🌹 and a card for your mum, and have a browse around Nicki’s beautiful store - it’s my favourite local florist and I love the selection of dried flowers for something a bit different, with their muted blues, purples and greens and their everlasting quality.

And now for a Radiohead track to wind down this evening, and of course it had to have ‘flower’ in the title, lol 💐

Go watch the video for this one on YouTube - Thom Yorke’s loose, body-led chaotic yet controlled movement in this is really something to see and it’s a beautiful song.

Photography website coming soon 🌚🔥

It’s a sunny, mild Sunday here in the Yarra Valley, and I’m kicking back with Food Channel on, as per usual.

Tom Kerridge is currently driving around Britain in a caravan obsessively looking for carrots lol. 🥕 It’s good watching Tom, he’s very entertaining, but while Tom hunts down carrots in a field in the UK 🇬🇧, little does he know that I’m down here in the Yarra Valley racking up my jewellery to go into a very nice store.

Tom can stick to his carrot fixation lol, he’s so goddamn compelled by them he’s now making a carrot cake 🍰 lol. I’ll just stick to the jewellery, haha. 💎👑 Less earthy and dirty, less orange, and less crazy carrot-driven 🤣🥕

I had some Charli XCX playing earlier and I’ve been busy getting everything ready to get my Sarah C Clarey shelf down at styled up, to get my jewellery, foil-stamped greeting cards, and framed refinished letterpress prints into the store, hopefully tomorrow.

For the jewellery, I have a selection of very affordable rings, bracelets, studs and drop earrings, as well as a selection of cocktail rings and a few statement pieces. I’ve really enjoyed selecting and sourcing these pieces and I hope you’ll head into and check out my shelf and see if anything takes your fancy.

I’ll post again once everything is in store, but for now, here’s a Charli XCX track I really enjoy, which matches the dark, metallic energy of some of my jewellery, which I hope you’re going to like when you can pick it up in the store.

In other news, my photographer’s website for is not far away now with photographic prints on premium papers for sale, so check back soon for website launch updates ✨

Enjoy the vibes on this Sunday afternoon

Loving the 7pm April evening light hitting this blanket of cloud over the Croydon Dorset Hotel car park, turning it soft shades of pink, peach and mauve. Too pretty not to stop on my way back out of the sports bar and take a couple of photos.

My jewellery, refinished letterpress prints and foil-stamped cards will soon be stocked at and available for sale.

In other news, the website is getting very close now - I’m working on uploading my full series of images, with photographic prints on premium papers to be available very soon for purchase by all you eager hordes lol just waiting to snap one up at very reasonable prices.

I do hope some people buy them at some stage or I’ll be heading back to the Dorset to ask for a job lol 🤣

And now for your Saturday night, the excellent track from 2014, ‘Two Weeks’ by FKA Twigs. Soft, atmospheric, slightly left of centre - a bit like the clouds in these photos, come to think of it. And somehow both restrained and intense at the same time. Makes me think of someone I met recently, about two weeks ago actually. Maybe our paths will cross again, time will tell.

Enjoy y’all 🔥🖤🌚

The golden hour light hit this print in the sitting room just as I was passing through at 7 o’clock, so I stopped and fired off some shots.

This is my father John’s print that he created back in 1979, the year I was born. My father has passed away now sadly, but he was a secondary school art teacher and a vice principal, with a long teaching career, and he created quite a few pieces of art himself, often very large-scale works. He also built our house.

Dad was good, quite a bit better than me I feel lol, but I think I probably get my artistic ability (should I have any) largely from him.

I think Dad would be pleased as my first mixed-media collection is now finished with nine works created - my original night photographs printed onto canvas and mounted boards, featuring minimal glass mosaic work and a bit of metallic embellishment. I’ll show them on here soon and I’m currently looking at where I may be able to exhibit them locally, which is exciting for me if I’m honest.

This is one of Dad’s smaller prints that he gave me years ago. It’s always made me think of a moon with its circular shape, and loving all things moon as I do, I really love this ‘Lune’ print.

My dad really loved the American singer Robbie Robertson, and his favourite track was ‘Somewhere Down The Crazy River’, the song I’m pairing with these shots of his print at golden hour.

Enjoy - it’s got strong storytelling lyrics and it’s a great song 🔥🖤🌚

Happy Easter y’all, go hard on the chocolate eggs, and at least one rabbit, damn, you know you want to 🐣🐰🍫

My site launches very soon with photographic prints for sale 📷

14/03/2026

It’s a chilly night here in the valley and I captured a few shots of the trees outside as it got dark, then came back in to watch SBS Food channel, my choice for relaxation, culture, chefs, languages, travel, and of course, all things food. 🍛

Mum’s still over babysitting the high-needs dog. He’s cute, but little ‘love nugget’ is quite the pampered pooch 🐕

I was starving, so I had some tinned spaghetti and an egg on toast, which is underrated thrifty food - easy, dirt cheap at $0.90 a can, it tastes decent - and if you add a bit of Tabasco and sriracha, it’s not bad for a quick dinner.

Jamie Oliver is on again, this time in ‘Jamie’s Food Escapes - Venice’. Tonight he’s whipping up a nice-looking spaghetti vongole in someone’s backyard.🍝

If I tried cooking spaghetti in my backyard I can almost certainly guarantee it wouldn’t look anything like Jamie’s, and it would probably taste like s**t too. Likely with dirt and grass in it with the clams. Jamie’s spaghetti looks good, but he’s Jamie Oliver isn’t he? He’s not gonna turn out a s**tty spaghetti vongole on TV if he can help it, lol.

Jamie has now left the Venice garden for a professional kitchen to make risotto with the chefs - these guys are definitely not serving up $1-a-can spaghetti on toast to Jamie Oliver, lol.

I think this risotto of theirs is going to be a little more highbrow than my cost-of-living crisis cuisine - but if I want to eat tinned spaghetti and eggs 🍳 then I bloody well will, okay?! Only a mild case of scurvy will stop me.

Moral of the story is - I’m doing tinned spaghetti in the Yarra Valley, Jamie’s doing high-end cooked spaghetti in Venice, lol. It’s a shockingly contrasted tale of two cities 🌃 Quite literally.

Time now for Joan Jett & The Blackhearts with their coolest of the cool, purple and black vibes, high energy rock ‘n roll anthem of 1988, ‘I Hate Myself For Loving You’ - which kinda sums up my feelings towards the tinned spaghetti, lol.

Please enjoy Joan being awesome on the vocals with my night garden shots, available soon via my website 🖤🌚🔥

Light is all over us
Like it always was
Like it always was
Shaped by the clearest blue
But it’s not enough
It’s not enough, not enough
Just another time I’m caught inside every open eye
Holding on tightly to the sides, never quite learning why
You’ll meet me, you’ll meet me
You’ll meet me halfway
Whenever I feel it coming on, you can be well aware
If ever I try to push away, you can just keep me there
So please say you’ll meet me
Meet me halfway
Tied to the shifting ground
Like I always was
Like I always was
You were the perfect storm
But it’s not enough

Happy Friday night, kids 🌙✨

A few nicely blue twilight photos from out the front this evening with lots of blue in the sky tonight, reminding me of ‘Clearest Blue’ by CHVRCHES, a killer song that is really uplifting with its piercing synth build-up and euphoric high-energy dance drop. I loved this track back in 2017.

I’m kicking back in bed with the laptop watching ‘Jamie’s Comfort Food’ on SBS Food Channel, as Jamie Oliver whips up some sensational-looking Indian dishes, 🥘🇮🇳 - his chicken tikka masala sauce with paratha flatbreads 🫓 look very tasty - and I’ve now moved on to the cover letter for the bar job application that never ends, lol. At the rate I’m going I won’t be pouring schooners for quite some time.

I’m blissfully home alone because my mother dearest has gone away for ten days. Hallelujah. Glory be to god. 🙌🏻💪🏻 She’s just up the road which is a little close for my liking, lol, but she’s not here with me at least, so it’s good. It’s a vast improvement. I do hope mum is having fun over there at my brother’s house while he is up somewhere holidaying in Queensland. She’s gone to babysit the high-needs dog, lol. 🐕

I’ll release this ‘In The Blue Garden at Dusk’ series of three photos as photographic prints on premium papers when my website goes up soon at

Now, let’s all put our feet up and enjoy ‘Clearest Blue’ by CHVRCHES - this one will really elevate your mood for your Friday evening 🖤🌚🔥
