Our Story

Chai Walli is a small and passion driven Australian business founded by Uppma, the granddaughter of an Indian Ayurvedic doctor who specialised in spices. Uppma learnt from him the art and science of balancing spices and teas. What started as a hobby of brining authentic traditional family recipes has grown into a proud small family orientated business. Uppma grew up with her mother’s love of cooking ingrained in her veins. She uses her innate senses to balance spices according to their Ayurvedic elements and teach others the Art of Chai. Leading a team of passionate individuals, Uppma runs her small Australian business with deep values. All the blends are formulated and created by Uppma using her love of natural wholesome ingredients and family recipes. We are grateful that we can share our ritual of chai and our art of creating beautiful blends with you. Your love for quality handcrafted products means that we get to share cultural heritage and age old techniques in a modern light with you and many others. We care deeply about the suppliers we work with. We choose to have a tea farm to tea cup policy, which allows us to support some truly amazing tea estates in India producing organic and fair trade teas. Our humble beginnings started with Uppma blending spices in her parent’s basement recreating her grandfather’s blends. Today, we are proud to have several award winning and well renowned masala chai and spice blends which are experienced by our amazing customers all around the world. A (good) cup of chai is a language of its own, it has the ability to bring calm and excitement all at once. Thank you for joining us on our journey and bringing the language of chai into your home and heart. Enjoy shopping our range of award winning products, we can't wait for you to experience the ritual of chai in your love! Chai kisses from the Chai Walli team xx

Chai is never just chai. ☕️😍

For those of us from an Indian background, it carries the feeling of home the warmth of family, conversations that go on for hours, recipes passed down through generations, and memories that stay with us wherever we go.

When my family migrated to Australia, everything around us was new. But our culture, our food, our spices and our chai brought us back to what felt familiar.

Today, that same tradition continues one cup, one conversation and one memory at a time.

Because sometimes, a simple cup of chai is a little taste of home. 🤎

For many of us, chai and spices are so much more than a drink. It is family, memory, ritual and culture. It is something we learn by watching, tasting and doing… Often without ever measuring a thing.

We crush spices by hand. We immerse ourselves in its energy and flavours.
That familiar sound of chai simmering on the stove.
All those recipes passed down through generations which live in our DNA, waiting to be shared, waiting to be revealed.
It’s all in the little rituals that somehow make a house feel like home.

These are the things that stay with us.

At Chai Walli, we make our chai by hand because we believe there is something special about keeping those traditions alive.

Every blend carries a little piece of history, a little bit of family and a lot of love.

Handmade chai. Rooted in culture. Made for the next generation. 🤎

Wait for the next drop and we’ll tell you how to spot a bad chai in 10 seconds.

From whole spices → freshly blended chai → hand packed with care → your cup at home. 🤎

This is what real masala chai looks like.

We start with whole spices, blend everything fresh in small batches, never use powders or artificial flavours. Just the real deal.

Because the freshest, most wholesome cup of chai starts long before it reaches your mug. ☕✨

When your 14 month old visits your spice factory and already knows what’s good.

My little spice boy has no choice but to love spices.

Star anise. Mace. He has good taste.
