Every now and then we come across a piece that really knocks our socks off.

This beautiful miner’s couch is more than one hundred years old and has been so carefully restored.

It is in impeccable condition and we feel very privileged to share it with you here!

NEW YEAR NEW DOOR | Dress up the front of your place with a fresh lick of paint for your front door. It’s a quick and easy holiday project and you can see what a difference it’s made to my front door… swipe for the before shot.

This was one of my first projects at the ‘new house’ now that I’ve moved in from the farm. I feel like the door looks bigger now, a bit more of a statement, and a bit more modern too.

Start by giving all the timber work a light sand, enough to take the shine off of the existing paint.

Then choose your favourite colour - decide whether you want your door to blend in or stand out.

I’ve used Vintage Bird paint in Grey Slate for my door and I also painted a number of terracotta pots to sit near the front door as well.

I have a whole range of colours to choose from - from brilliant Marigold yellow to a Hamptons-vibe ginger jar blue. You can see some of our favourite pop-of-colour doors in our stories… this is definitely a new year transformation that is achievable!

The number of coats you need will depend on the existing paint colour and on the new paint colour… for example, if you’re going from a colour dark to a light colour than if you’re going from light to dark, you may need an extra colour.
