ABOUT ME ")

My name is Nicole Reed and I am a ‘machine quilter for hire’ based in Kingaroy, in Country Queensland, Australia. I operate this service using a Avante Q18 HandiQuilter Quilting Machine with the Q-Bot computerised system. Quilting with a computerised system is good news for my clients because the results are better. My machine produces even, regular stitches and stitches-out a precise and accurate design. A wide selection of quilting designs are available and so finding just the right pattern to suit your quilt will be an easy choice for you. I have been quilt-making and crafting for many years, so my knowledge about all aspects of patchwork and quilting is extensive and I have been helping other quilt makers complete their quilts since the year 2009. I am passionate about quilting so rest assured I will treat your quilt with the highest regard. If you are looking for a quilter to finish your quilting project, you can be confident that here at Darvanalee Designs you will receive quality service, at a fair price and the work will be completed for you in quick time. If you have not commissioned a machine quilter previously, I will be happy to explain all aspects of the quilting process. I can help you finish your quilts by machine quilting the top (in either a light custom style or an edge to edge design) and then, if you want, bind your quilt so it is ready to use. This can be very useful for those people who like to make the quilt tops but don't have the time or the inclination to quilt them - these are the quilts that end up stuffed in a cupboard, never to see the light of day again. Wouldn't it be better to have your quilts finished so you can use them? Or even so you can have the excuse that you need to make some more!! Actually, you don't need that excuse - having more than one quilt in progress is a good thing (though my husband would dispute that!). I use Signature, SoFine and Bottom line threads, depending on colours available and/or your preference. Thread cost is included in the quilting cost. Specialty threads can be supplied - just ask. This all looks very complicated but it really isn't. However, I am happy to talk about it over the phone or by email if you would prefer. You can contact me on either

🪡 Sampler September – Thursday’s Progress 🪡
Happy Thursday, crafty friends! 💕

Here’s today’s progress on Humming of the Bees by Blackbird Designs, and today I’m doing things a little differently.

I’m starting to get a bit low on some of my floss, so rather than stopping altogether, I decided to do a little bit of mapping out. I’m putting in the first leg of my crosses so that when my new floss arrives, I know exactly where I need to go back and finish those stitches.

And you know what? It’s actually a great way to feel like you’ve made HEAPS of progress! 😂 When you look at all those stitches mapped out and ready for their final leg, it really feels like you’re getting somewhere.

I’ve now got the door, the window and part of the brickwork mapped out and ready to be completed. 🧵
I am making HUGE progress on this sampler. Seriously, HUGE! 🙌 I’m getting more and more excited to see just how far I can get during Sampler September.

My replacement floss has been sent, so fingers crossed it arrives in the next few days, and I can get straight back into filling everything in. 🤞🪡

Thank you so much for following along with my progress. Keep an eye out for another little progress video tomorrow!

Until then, happy stitching, and I’ll see you tomorrow! 💕🧵

I’m continuing to work on Humming of the Bees by Blackbird Designs, and today we’re making a little more progress on the basket. I’ve sped the stitching up so you can sit back and watch those stitches go in. 🧵✨
Every little stitching session counts, and hopefully by the end of September we’ll see some lovely progress on this piece!

Grab a cuppa and come see what I managed to get done today. ☕🪡

Happy stitching, everyone! 💕

🧶✨ Hey there, Crafty friends! ✨🧶

Time for a little crochet update!

I'm currently working on a project called Sunny Top, and I've chosen to make it using black cotton. While I absolutely love how it's looking, I can confidently say that choosing black yarn may not have been my smartest decision... 😂

I've almost finished the first panel, with just six more rounds to go before I can move on to the next section. So far, this one has turned out a little bigger than I expected, but I followed all the instructions, so I'm hoping it settles down a bit once it's finished.

Since it's cotton, I plan on blocking it and using a little steam, so it may shrink and shape up slightly during that process. Fingers crossed! 🤞

As many of you know, I am a very slow crocheter at the best of times, and working with black cotton definitely hasn't sped things up! LOL. But we're making progress, one stitch at a time, and that's what counts.

I'd love to hear what everyone else is working on at the moment. Share your projects below and let's cheer each other on! 🖤🧶

Happy Crafting :)

🧵✨ Hey there, crafty friends! ✨🧵

Just popping in with a little project update!

I've managed to make some more progress on my wool felt project, and I'm really happy with how it's coming along so far. 😊

We still have a long way to go before it's finished, but stitch by stitch, we're getting there! That's one of the things I love most about these kinds of projects, watching them slowly come together over time.

I'll be sure to keep sharing updates as I make more progress. I'd love to see what everyone else is working on too, so feel free to share your projects below! 🪡💕

🧶✨ Hey hey, my crafty friends! ✨🧶

Tonight, I've decided to spend a little time crocheting, and I made these gorgeous little rosettes! 🌹💕

They are so sweet, and I am absolutely love how they're turning out. My current idea is to make a whole heap of them and eventually add them to a crochet granny square blanket. I think they'll make such a beautiful feature and add lots of texture and charm to the finished project.

What do you think? Have you ever added crochet flowers to a blanket before? I'd love to hear your ideas and see any photos if you've made something similar! 😊

Happy crafting, everyone! 🧶💖

🌈✨ Going through my fabric stash today and look what I found… This absolutely BEAUTIFUL rainbow stack of fat quarters! ✂️🧵

Honestly, these colours are screaming Pride Month project, and now my brain is spinning with possibilities 🌈💖

The only problem?
I can’t decide what to make with them 😅

A quilt?
A tote bag?
Patchwork cushion?
Bunting?
Something completely different? 👀

So I’m calling on all my crafty friends…
✨ What pattern would YOU use for this rainbow bundle? ✨

Leave your favourite pattern ideas, links, or inspiration in the comments below because I would LOVE to hear them 💬🌈🪡
