I have no plan (or know-how)… 😳

A couple of days ago, I met the most interesting lady at the Redcliffe Treehouse and became fascinated by our conversation.

Before that conversation I can honestly say, I have NEVER owned a teapot or EVER thought about a teapot cozy.🫖

Today, I bought my first teapot (of many…I know me, and I know when I’m obsessed) at an OpShop for $7.50. 💸

I’m going to (try to) design (as I go) and make a custom cozy that celebrates the shape and design of this Vintage Chinese Jingdezhen Famille Rose porcelain teapot. 🧶✍️🫖

Wish me luck! 🤞

Coffee time at The Redcliffe Treehouse! ☕️

Today, I decided to adventure outside my coffee comfort zone.

I’m so glad I did.

I decided to try out the Redcliffe Treehouse on Redcliffe parade, and I was not disappointed!

The staff are super friendly and I had the most interesting conversation with the soul and spirit driving the business Cei, Barrie and Abi Heck.

They have super moreish coffee, and I’ve definitely found my new favourite banana bread joint (I have a banana bread problem 🍌🍞).

I think I’ve finally found my second home.

Product photos are a pain in my arse

Bad lighting and poor colour quality are my biggest problem.

I have ring lights, photo boxes, soft boxes, backgrounds, fancy Nikon camera, multiple lenses, tripods galore… I’m embarrassed to keep going because I have soo much more😳🫢

I’ve set it all up 📸😫
Spent an appalling amount of time 🕚🕦🕐😳

And I still can’t get my product photos to look great (which to me means true and detail oriented).

Then I started using Gemini Ai. My game changer.

Now I,

Take my crappy photo ➕ A professional materials photo ➕ A simple prompt 🟰 A nice photo.

Try it. It’s super simple.

How do you decide when a project is finally 'done'?

For me, hobbies and crafting are so much more than just something to do. It's a way to express myself and share who I am.

I often doubt myself, and I can't seem to get the hang of believing my work is ‘good enough’. I mean—what does ‘good enough’ even mean?

According to a Google search: "Good enough means something meets the basic needs of a task or situation without being perfect. It is a point where extra work adds no real value."

Ummnnn... my hamster wheel is turning. 🐹

What I find interesting is that there is a point in time when ‘good enough’ starts. And I think that’s my issue!

I believe the point at which something is good enough is when I receive approval from others, rather than simply choosing for myself. (Real-time epiphany right here!)

I'm realising my version of ‘good enough’ is based on outside opinion—or rather, the fear that someone might say it’s not good enough, which somehow means I'm not good enough.

I know I’m not alone in this, and today I just needed to write these thoughts down.

Realisation is the first step!

Oooo, maybe I have a new hobby: DIY therapy. Naah, on second thought, I’ll leave therapy to the professionals. 😉

Today, I'm choosing to believe my work is good enough simply because I loved making it.

And on that note—if you’d like to have a go at making this little guy yourself, here you go!

It’s…

Coffee time Baker Coffeemaker (soo sooooo yummy).

It’s also craft time and (semi) social time.

If you’re in the Redcliffe area and want to hang with a fellow crafter feel free to reach out.

I’m game to have a coffee and talk about creative things (or quietly craft)…

As long as it’s easy peasy - I’m game.

Did I mention (if your cheap like me) you can…

Hey! Amanda here.

I’m currently setting up a stand alone online shop for FREE. (ETSY does my head in - I don’t want to be just one of the bunch)

It’s taken me a bit to figure it all out, however, these bookmarks aren’t gonna sell themselves.

Did I also mention I’m 50 (which doesn’t help!).

Anyhoo - I’m doing so using SquareUp, and once I’m finished I’m gonna list my steps and create a little how-to video.

If you already know how, I envy you!

If you want to learn how-to set up a Free Online Shop let me know in the comments.

You will be my motivation.
