Aesop's Attic Bookshop

Aesop's Attic Bookshop Your local family owned and wholely independent bookshop There is a diverse range of cards some of which have been hand painted by local artists.

Aesop's Attic opened it's doors on September 4th 1992 in an attic above Health & Fine Foods in High Street Kyneton, Victoria. When the business grew Aesop's Attic was shifted to 24a High Street, Kyneton

In August 2002 the McKenna family, who have remained in Kyneton since the late 1840's took over the business. In 2010 Aesop’s Attic began to stock Second Hand and Collectable books and now have a

Special Orders are one of Aesop’s Attic Bookshops specialities. A sustainable blue gum plantation was planted on the owners farm as carbon offset for the paper used in books. As of October 2014 Aesop's Attic has operated out of 70 High Street Kyneton

Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary Clare and Daniel McKenna

On Friday, 1st of May, Clare and Daniel are celebrating 50 years of marriage.

Friends since 1969 and married in 1976 at St Monica’s Kangaroo Flat, they have shared a lifetime of love, loyalty, hard work, humour, and family.

Together, they have raised five sons and have been the heart and soul behind Aesop’s Attic Bookshop for so many years.

Their marriage is a beautiful example of commitment, partnership, patience, and devotion. Fifty years is an incredible milestone, reflecting not only the love they have shared but also the love they have given to their family, their friends, and the wider Kyneton community.

Congratulations, Clare and Daniel, on 50 wonderful years together ❤️

It’s always a pleasure supporting our local schools and young readers. 📚

At Aesop’s Attic we donate thousands of dollars’ worth of books each year to schools, libraries, and community groups because we believe every young reader deserves access to great stories.

We’re so glad these books have found a home at and we hope the students discover some new favourites. Happy reading!

Today we received a negative review relating to a book that a customer was given as a birthday present which they subsequently brought back to the shop for a change-of-mind exchange.

Although we were not required to do so under Australian Consumer Law, we still allowed an in-store exchange as a gesture of goodwill.

In the review, the person assisting was referred to simply as “the woman.” The person helping at the time was Clare, the owner of Aesop’s Attic, who explained that the book was not in pristine condition, as the cover was no longer able to close properly.

For a small independent bookshop, once a new book is no longer in saleable condition it cannot be sold as new, which unfortunately creates a loss for us.

Despite accommodating the exchange, the customer still chose to leave a negative review.

We remain incredibly grateful for the many loyal customers who support Aesop’s Attic and treat books and small businesses with care. Your support helps keep independent bookshops like ours alive in Kyneton.

Thank you for supporting local. ❤️

Macedon Ranges, we need to talk.

This is Danni from Super Sushi, and I’m posting this with a knot in my stomach.

Our little family business — the one that’s been here for 13 years, feeding your kids school lunches, your work lunches, your Friday cravings — is on the edge of closing.

Not “business is a bit slow.”
Not “we’re having a rough patch.”
I mean we are genuinely at risk of shutting our doors if we don’t have a strong week.

It breaks my heart to even write that.

We’ve always tried to be the place that brings joy, comfort, and good food to this community. But right now, we need the community to lift us the way we’ve tried to lift you.

If you want Super Sushi to stay in the Macedon Ranges, this is the moment where your support truly matters.

❤️ Grab a roll
❤️ Order lunch
❤️ Tag someone who loves sushi
❤️ Come in this week if you can

Every single order helps us keep our staff, pay our rent, and stay alive.

Local businesses don’t survive on luck — they survive on community.
And we’re asking, humbly and honestly, for your help to keep ours going.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for caring.
We’re fighting with everything we’ve got.

— Danni & the Super Sushi
