This is what I did with my studio time this week and I don’t usually share my stuff on The Alchemist socials, but this was super fun so I wanted to share my little project!
I’ve been nursing my citrus trees through a Central Victorian winter and they *needed* plant labels for the wine barrel pots we made. Enter some and Verdigris to make my custom faux vintage bronze plaques.
I rolled out the clay, cut the shape and pressed in some dehydrated limes and letters and used an embossing tool to dimple the surface. Once dry I coated with Langridge decorative primer, 2 coats of Verdigris base and then brushed on the oxidizing patina which reacts with the bronze filing in the paint and Voila!
I love the finish and how the patina is more intense in the recesses, picking up the details of the dimpled surface and the texture of the lime 😍
Just a few coats of Langridge patina sealer to protect them from the elements then they can be screwed to the barrels.
