Hi Everyone - itās been a long time since Iāve posted anything...
This I felt particularly my duty to inform everyone who loves their fur babies like I loved Diesel.
Some of you got to meet him when I was doing workshops in his younger years, and knew he was just the funniest and happiest pup ever!
It was hard not to love him, and he loved just as much back.
We lost him very suddenly on July 15th 2021,
Yes he was an older dog, but he was still lively happy and played with his adopted Kelpie brothers as much as he could.
He walked played and did all his tricks he always did.
He had a fun spirit of play and was well in himself especially for his age.
I wanted to let you know as I didnāt that some of the good brand dog foods are not as transparent as we think
Including
*. Ivory Coat
*. Baxterās
And that after several attempts of a group called APOG after deaths relating to some of these foods, have made no attempt to recall these foods.
I gave Diesel a new food as he always ate grain free but I was after a new protein and lower fat food for him, I bought this food at pet stock for him.
He went downhill very fast - probably given his age.
I came home one day and knew he was very sick and we had to put him down on the 15th July.
I still hadnāt connected the dots on the food...
So I had an expensive brand dog food and two hungry Kelpies, so I did the logical thing, I had run out of the Blackhawk I was giving them all and decided Iāll give it to them.
They also went downhill very fast!
I clean their yard and noticed severely yellow unhealthy looking poo... not just one dog, but both dogs.
I still hadnāt connected the dots! I guess I was still having dealing with Diesels sudden death... and brain fog was how I was feeling.
Then I noticed that it got worse as both Kelpies were hunched up in the gut area, just like Diesel was the day he died.
The penny dropped and I immediately took them off the food and it took a few days but they were on the mend.
Their poo returned an normal consistency & colour.
They are healthy and happy again at age 3 the way they should be. (Thankfully)
I feel I nearly lost three dogs in One bag of Ivory coat food!!
I got angry, I called them and explained to the lady from Ivory coat what happened - she was fairly robotic and very uncompassionate in tone.
This made me madder - as she asked me what I was looking for as far as compensation- I was surprised at that response- stunned actually!
And I said I hadnāt thought about that as how do I put a price on my best friends life?
She didnāt respond!
I was expecting a compassionate and very sorry person on the other end of the phone who would immediately call a stop sell amd recall on product.
In a perfect world apparently
Turns out folks itās all about the BIG COMPANIES & the BIG $$$$$ involved
I felt sick to my stomach, I of all people should have known better - I now do not trust any pet food Industries. And effective immediately I will be making all my pet food from human grade (hopefully better) product
I hope this is enlightening to some of you, please if you have had a similar experience with pet food let this APOG know as they are just trying to get the industry to be responsible to people and their pets!
Turns out that this has happened before again & again particularly recently.
And they DONT RECALL THEIR PRODUCT!!!
Turns out recall is optional and up to the manufacturers in Australia!!!! Crazy!!
Goodbye my dearest friend in the world...
I miss you every day & love you more!!
I hope you can make a difference & help others in the meantime šš¢
Life sure isnāt the same without you
