🌿 Market weekend is here — and we’ve got some great new-season plants coming with us!

We’ll be at Harvest Market Launceston this Saturday — raincoats and umbrellas may be required! ☔ — followed by Farm Gate Market Hobart on Sunday.

This week we’re particularly excited about our new citrus range, with some beautiful and slightly unusual additions:

🍋 Pinky – Eureka Hybrid Lemon
Definitely one to notice. Pinky has striking green and cream variegated foliage, variegated young fruit and, once cut, a gorgeous pink-fleshed interior. It’s productive AND ornamental — and we can’t help thinking those pink lemons are crying out for a G&T. 🍸

🍊 Meiwa Cumquat
Known for its rounder, sweeter fruit and comparatively mild flesh, Meiwa is one of the best cumquats for eating fresh — skin and all. A compact, productive citrus that also makes a beautiful pot or courtyard tree.

🍊 Nagami Cumquat
The classic oval cumquat, with that wonderful contrast between sweet aromatic skin and sharp, tangy flesh. Brilliant for marmalades, preserves and cooking, and a heavy crop of bright orange fruit makes the tree pretty spectacular in its own right.

💚 Green Calamansi
Small fruit with a big citrus hit. Calamansi has an intense, aromatic flavour somewhere between lime, mandarin and kumquat, and is widely used in Southeast Asian cooking for drinks, marinades, dressings and sauces. Picked green, a little fruit goes a long way.

And yes — fresh tomato stock is ready to go! 🍅

Tommy Toe – a prolific cherry tomato with masses of sweet, full-flavoured fruit.
Apollo – a reliable, early-cropping all-rounder producing good-sized slicing tomatoes.
Roma – the classic fleshy, lower-juice tomato for sauces, cooking and preserving.

🌱 A quick note for our Tassie tomato growers: you can certainly get them planted, but young tomatoes still need protection from frost. Keep an eye on those overnight temperatures and be prepared to cover and protect plants until your local frost risk has passed.

🍋🌿 WE’RE BACK AT THE MARKETS THIS WEEKEND! 🌿🍋

After our winter break, we’re very excited to be packing the trucks and heading back to the markets this weekend! 🎉

And we’re kicking things off with a fantastic range of citrus, including some of the more unusual varieties:

🍋 Lemony Pinky
✋ Buddha’s Hand
🍊 Calamansi Cumquat
🍋 Yuzu
🍊 Red Grapefruit
🌿 A range of dwarf citrus
🌿 Finger limes
🍋 Plus plenty of full-sized citrus varieties

We’ll also have some advanced Rangpur limes already in fruit – perfect if you’d like something a little further along. 🍊🌿

And something a bit special… 💜

We’re bringing along some absolutely gorgeous Paraguay Nightshade standards. These are something a little different and are looking beautiful – definitely worth coming along for a look!

🌱 A quick asparagus update:
Our online asparagus deliveries are now winding down, so if you’ve been meaning to place an order for delivery, now is the time.

Once we return to the markets, asparagus will still be available, but for market pickup only — we will no longer be offering delivery.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported our online winter deliveries. It’s been a fantastic way to keep getting plants out to you while we’ve been away from the markets.

🌱 A LITTLE BIT OF EXCITING NEWS! 🎙️

Well… our little ginger plants have certainly caused a stir! 😂🌱

The response to our recent post about growing ginger right here in Tasmania has been absolutely incredible — so much so that ABC Tasmania’s Country Hour came out to visit us!

They chatted with us about our ginger project, what we’re doing, why we’re growing ginger in Tasmania and how the project has been progressing.

🫚 THE GINGER TRAIN HAS BEEN BUSY! 🫚

We have to say, we were blown away yet AGAIN by the response to our ginger last week! Our ute is full of ginger parcel goodness and on its way to our lovely customers- we can't wait to hear your thoughts and have been loving the messages and the warm feedback since.

And speaking of things keeping us busy… the nursery is getting busier by the day as we get ready to head back into market season! 🌱

This means we're coming to the end of our rhubarb and asparagus crown season, so if you've been meaning to get some into the garden, you've got just 2 weeks left to order them before we return to the markets! 🌿

🫚 We honestly didn't expect such an incredible response to our Tasmanian ginger!

A huge thank you to everyone who's ordered, shared our posts, or put out a good word to family and friends. Supporting local means so much to smaller growers over the winter period and we're so grateful that our ginger has found its way into so many Tassie homes.

The best part- our ginger keeps on growing, we've still got plenty available if you need to stock up!

A few fresh ways we've been using and storing it here are:

🫚 Peeling and popping whole pieces into the freezer — it grates even better from frozen and keeps for months.
🍋 Making a simple honey, lemon and ginger cordial/ syrup for those spring days around the corner!
🌿 Slice and dehydrate it to have your own ginger powder for curries and cooking
🥕 Juice it to make homemade immunity shots for a fresh zing.

There's something about a Tassie winter that has us all reaching for soup pots, slow cookers and endless cups of tea.

The days are shorter, the mornings are crisp, and somehow a home-cooked meal feels just that little bit more satisfying this time of year.

If you're looking for a simple way to add a little extra flavour to your winter cooking, fresh herbs are hard to beat.

🌿 This week, we're shining the spotlight on Chervil.

Often overlooked, chervil has a delicate flavour with hints of parsley and anise. It's lovely stirred through creamy potato or mushroom soup just before serving, folded into mashed potatoes, sprinkled over scrambled eggs, or added to homemade herb butter.

Of course, if chervil isn't your thing, we've also got plenty of thyme, lemon thyme, mint, perennial (Mexican) coriander and other herbs ready for their new homes.
