Top catch dude! 🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟

Ben with his first fish of the night and a new PB at 126cm… which lasted all of about 10 minutes before he backed it up by catching and releasing a 129cm beast! 🎣

The best part about his mulloway success this season is that last year we didn’t get one despite plenty of trips. This year was looking like more of the same, then we lost two in one night, which really fired him up and made him absolutely hell bent on catching one.

The last thing I wanted was him jagging one on his first attempt and spoiling him.
It took me years of fishless nights, making mistakes and slowly working out how to catch these fish from the beach, but that only made it all the more worthwhile when the constant grinding finally paid off. And while he didn’t quite have it that hard, he still put in plenty of hours trying to catch his first one.

End of winter = whiting have left the open beaches and pulled back into the estuary. Here's where to find them RIGHT NOW in August:

✅ Target the protected shallow flats inside the bay — Taylors Beach, Corlette, North Arm Cove and the Tilligerry system. Trumpeter whiting are sitting right up in the shallows in as little as 30cm of water on the run-in tide.

✅ Swap beach worms for Yabbies or Zman Finesse WormZ on TT Y-Ting system — that's the winter whiting formula that's working right now. Light 4-6lb fluoro leader, keep the presentation natural.
