Deer Me Upholstery

Textile printing brought me so much joy! Taught by my beautiful, creative daughter who is a stunning botanical artist (soon to be art therapist), and now Hugh printing his own designs, makes me so proud.

The idea of printing deer and antlers came from Raaimi and Logans dad, who had a set of Sambar antlers. After he passed away, my creative passion came through in his memory. Wearing my dads old flannelette shirt in my printing studio, was a nod to him. From market stalls to trade fairs, work shops in schools, stockists around Australia, magazines. Life truly is one big lap around the sun.

Its never too late to be creative!

My website might be down, though you can still inbox if you'd like a Mothers Day linen tea towel or a linen pillowcase set. After a busy Christmas printing and getting some awesome custom jobs done, which i must post pics of soon! Its time to get back into some new custom jobs and finish those new design I've been promising.

Today this is what i did. I took a couple of print boards, screens and ink to Goldie & Co in Kyneton. Tara Pearce Photography, designed the logo. Erin from Erin & Tara
Photography assisted with the printing of 300 totes for Learntolive. Along with a few t shirts, it was a crazy, fun day. Yanti (chief heat setter) founded Learntolive, a Kyneton local & nurse. Health education along with other programs, are provided to woman young and old. Support the cause and purchase a tote for $15 through Learntolive. xx

Love what you do, Love who you are.

A very big hello,
As you may have noticed, Deer Me has been a little absent from fb (but not Instagram!). Im happy that new & loyal followers of Deer Me have stayed with me. Family has always come 1st for me which is how Deer Me came about!

The middle of this year in particular tested everything I believed in & thought I knew. It rocked my world, confidence and who I was. I was lost and very, very sad. You see, my dad was diagnosed with cancer and 4 weeks later gone. I sat by his side. I helped prepare him for his next journey. I knew what he meant to me, but wasn't prepared for what was to come. The loss, the pain and the massive hole that was left along with a shattered family, crippled me.
Deer Me suffered. No new designs, no new photography, emails unanswered, orders sent late, no media kits the list went on. Somehow, which sounds very cliche, I started to find myself and get back to being me. I discovered I'm a work in progress and thats ok. I realised I still loved Deer Me and my passion for it wasn't lost at all.

So look out, cause I'm back! Exciting new projects are on the horizon, new stockists & lots, lots more!

Do you know your Community.

I hope everyone had a lovely week and weekend. Welcome new friends to Deer Me.
I came home to find the front of my home and the street had been 'yarned bombed'! A lovely lady who has a cute little quilt/craft store has knitted scarves of all colours and tied them around the trees. I smiled, it was a nice reminder about towns and what people do to contribute to their community. It also reminded me of acts of kindness. Like the time when I was really ill with a new baby, lots of country folk dropped off delicious dinners and treats for the family. Another time a whole community, and I mean the whole town and beyond, put together a massive fundraiser for my family when a tragedy stuck.
Whether you live in the city or country- communities are out there, real people giving. Have a look next time you arrive home, you never know what you might find. xo
