After we see the same thing many times, our brain accepts it as "normal". Then, we forget to question it. πŸ™ƒ

Do you have things you do in particular way beacause people around you do?
Do you believe something without knowing why?

I am aware I do a lot. 😭 And, this is why I often say "find your own solution" to my kid when he asks how to do things. Of course, I need a lot of patience to see how he does but hope he understands better why he does each thing in his life. πŸ‘¦

πŸ€ This is a very simple experiment to observe how leaves breathe.
All you need is a bowl filled with water and a leaf. πŸ€

Place a leaf in the water and put a stone to keep the leaf completed under the water.
Then leave it under sunlight for a few hours...β˜€οΈ

What you should be seeing is small bubbles that form around the leaf and the edges of the bowl. These are easy enough to see with the naked eye.

πŸ’š Photosynthesis and Respiration in plants:
As a leaf creates that energy, it needs to get rid of the items it no longer needs so it will expel both the extra oxygen during photosynthesis along with water (the release of water from a plant is called transpiration).
As a leaf creates that energy, it needs to get rid of the items it no longer needs so it will expel both the extra oxygen during photosynthesis along with water (the release of water from a plant is called transpiration).
Bubbles -- as the leaf releases its' extra oxygen while submerged, the oxygen can be seen as bubbles in the water.
And since oxygen is lighter than water, the bubbles will eventually rise to the surface.

Growing beans in a jar and learn about plants.

What you need:
- An empty jar
- Cotton balls or kitchen paper towels
- A bean
- Water and sunlight

How to grow:
1. Wet cotton balls or paper towels and place them in an empty jar
2. Place a bean between the wet cotton balls and the wall of the jar so that you can see the bean growing
3. Make sure to keep the cotton balls wet regularly

Beans are usually fast to grow. You can expect the see the growth every day. Don't forget to move it into a bigger pot with soil so that you can get some beans to eat.

πŸ’« 5 Layers of the Earth's Atmosphere Activity for Kids β˜„οΈ

πŸ’¦ Materials:
- Honey
- Corn syrup
- Dish soap
- Water
- Vegetable Oil
- Narrow jar
- Labels

🀚 How to:
1. In the order listed above, carefully pour the liquids into a jar. Try not to get the thicker liquids on the side of the jar and try to pour the thinner liquids slowly so that the layers stay separate.
2. Use the labels to title each layer of the β€œatmosphere” on your jar.
Exosphere
Thermosphere
Mesosphere
Stratosphere
Troposphere

🧐 The liquids stay separated because each liquid has a different density and relates that concept back to the Earth’s atmosphere.

Kids still need basic laungage and math skills, but we shouldn't forget teaching skills to live well. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘§

Or, put it in this way...
We need skills to look after ourself and provide value to others.
This means we should focus on the outcome we want...
Then, get the knowledge and skills to get the outcome.

πŸ‘§ Loading a lot of information without the purpose is not the most efficient way to educate in most cases. πŸ‘¦ What do you think?

🟠 Why playing dough is good?

Playing dough is one of the most popular activities all the time. I don't mind playing with the dough too. πŸ˜™

While poking, rolling, and squishing playdough, children develop small muscles in their fingers and hands. They use hands, fingers, and tools to pound, push, poke, shape, flatten, roll, cut, and scrape.

Through these manipulations, children develop eye-hand coordination, the ability to match hand movement with eye movement. πŸ§’ They also gain strength and improve dexterity in their hands and fingers, critical areas of physical development for writing, drawing, and other purposes.

Playdough is a powerful learning tool for many reasons. And when you play with playdough at home with your children, you’ll discover the most important reason of all: it’s just plain fun! 🌈

You know often the simplest solution is the best solution. πŸ˜„ But, the simplest doesn't mean the easiest.

Simplicity is the reduction of complexity. Simplicity comes from revisions. Only after we looked at all the possible options, then remove the clutters, we appreciate what is left. ✨

It is a bit hard to believe that many starts we see now is the object from years ago. β˜„οΈ It is also amazing the light doesn't disappear while it is traveling a long distance. πŸ’«

With technologies, we can talk to people on the other side of the world anytime but compare to what is out there in space, we are still living in a small world. 🀣

Dr Carl Sagan (1934-1996) was an American astronomer, planetary scientist, cosmologist, astrophysicist, astrobiologist, author, and science communicator.

His best known scientific contribution is research on extraterrestrial life, including the experimental demonstration of producing amino acids and nucleic acidsβ€”the building blocks of lifeβ€”by exposing a mixture of simple chemicals to ultraviolet radiation. Sagan codesigned the messages from Earth that were attached to the Pioneer and Voyager probes that were launched out of the solar system - universal messages that could potentially be understood by any extraterrestrial intelligence that might find them.

πŸ‘§ Safe for Kids Lava Lamp Sensory Bottle πŸ‘¦

πŸ”΄ What you need:
- Water
- Vegetable Oil
- Food coloring
- Alka Seltzer Tablets
- Jug
- Bottle or jar

πŸ”΅ How to make:
1. Fill a bottle (or a jar) 2/3 with vegetable oil
2. Add water to the top of the bottle
3. Add few drops of food coloring
4. Add an Alka-seltzer tablet to the bottle and close the lid

🟑 Why does it happen?
Initially, water and oil in a bottle will split and you will see separate layers. Food coloring liquid is water-soluble and will not mix with oil.
Alka-seltzer tablet (made of aspirin, baking soda, and citric acid) is water-soluble and when it hits the water layer, baking soda and citric acid react with water to form bubbles.
This fizzing gas is lighter than liquid and once the bubble reaches the top, the gas is released and the colored water sinks back down to the bottom.
