Bees + STEM = hands-on learning!
My Bees in Schools education sessions are all about bringing the fascinating world of bees into the classroom through hands-on, interactive STEM activities.
Students don’t just hear about bees they observe, investigate, measure, explore and discover.
Some of the educational tools and resources I bring along include:
Honey refractometers students can investigate honey moisture content and discover a little of the science behind honey quality.
Handheld microscopes perfect for getting up close and exploring tiny bee and hive details.
Standing microscopes for a deeper look at bee specimens, pollen and other fascinating structures.
Bee specimens providing students with the opportunity to safely observe bee anatomy up close.
Educational observation hives and frames helping students understand how a bee colony works and giving them a window into the world inside the hive.
These tools turn a bee incursion into a real STEM investigation, connecting biology, science, technology, measurement and environmental education in a way students can see, touch and experience.
Because sometimes the best way to learn about bees is to get hands-on and look a little closer!
