Meet Nathan. Owner, woodworker, problem-solver and the bloke wearing roughly 47 different hats at Hammer Roo.

His love of woodworking started with his grandad, where he learnt that good work takes patience, sharp tools and usually a bit more sanding than you planned.

These days, Nathan’s job can involve helping customers choose the right product, testing new tools, solving workshop problems, unpacking stock, planning the future of the business and occasionally appearing in videos when the marketing team catches him.

He’s built Hammer Roo from a furniture workshop into a place made to support Australian woodworkers at every stage of the journey.

More glue doesn’t mean a stronger joint. It usually just means a bigger mess to clean up.

For most timber glue-ups, you’re aiming for a thin, even layer across the entire joint. Once clamped, a small amount of squeeze-out tells you the surfaces have good coverage

The real strength comes from flat, well-fitting surfaces, the right adhesive and proper clamping pressure. Not from emptying half the bottle into one joint.

There’s a version of building a business that rarely makes it into the highlight reel.

The second-guessing. The long days. The decisions you make with incomplete information. The moments when you’re not sure if you’re being brave or just slightly reckless.

Hammer Roo wasn’t built from one perfect plan. It grew through trial, mistakes, conversations, small wins and plenty of lessons learnt the hard way.
