We are so proud of ex-student and sometimes relief teacher Joey Haenen on this role with State Opera. We have always known Joey would do great things in the music industry with the combination of natural talent and years of hard work. Congratulations Joey! 🎶

We are thrilled to see that Elder Conservatorium Music Theatre graduate Joey Haenen has been cast as Jack in State Opera South Australia's upcoming production of the three-time Tony Award-winning musical 'Into the Woods'. This witty, whimsical, and deeply moving show (featuring an unforgettable score and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and masterful storytelling by James Lapine) intertwines beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales – with an original story of a baker and his wife on a quest to break a witch's curse and start a family.

Originally from Loxton in regional South Australia, Joey is a 2025 graduate of the Elder Conservatorium's Bachelor of Music Theatre degree. He is also a proud graduate of the Class of Cabaret (2022) and the Nathaniel O'Brien scholarship recipient. Congratulations, Joey! 👏
