August Slow Notes 🌻
A little collection of what I loved this month ~ books, crochet, quiet days, winter camping, slow mornings, walking, making, and the gentle rhythm of life lately. And some news 🗞️
My August Slow Notes are now on the blog.
Link in bio.

A winter camping trip without rain or snow 🙌🏼

So many good books this month 👉🏼

I think I’m in my reading era (loved this book too)

A trip to Nundle has to include the glorious woollen mill 🧶

Very proud of my efforts to buy only what I needed this year 😮‍💨

August was a great month of walks

So many options for walking, it’s a bit ridiculous 😂

So sad to see the end of my Slow Granny Square Blanket Project ~ but I know another will be on my hook soon

New beginnings 👉🏼 over on the blog

Lots of organising going on over here at the moment. …. Proud of my decision last year not to purchase any more yarn… only if it’s strictly necessary 😭

A sudden ending 🌻
My Slow Granny Blanket Project has come to an unexpected end.
Not because I planned it… but because the white yarn ran out.
This blanket has carried me through so much this year, grief, transitions, changes and all the ordinary things in between.
I’ve written a post on the blog today if you want to read it, or you can scroll through 👉
Remember to do something just for yourself today ~ you are important,
Melissa 🌞

I honestly thought that this big bag of yarn would last at least the year

But the white yarn finished before I was ready

The yarn was connected to mum, who rewound this older blanket of mine. After years of love it developed some holes. And mum rewound each single row. So many balls of yarn wrapped snuggly. For a long time I could not even look into that bag of yarn

But each square I made represented a day that I was able to accomplish something. On the days that I struggled with grief, depression, sadness and worthiness. Each square was symbolic.

And after reflecting on the process, I’ve realised that maybe the blanket finished exactly when it was meant to

As I slowly pack up the Bay House, I’ve come across another blanket ~ one that was loved & is holey. So it won’t be long before another Slow Granny Blanket is back on my hook.
