Robert just sent us these "before and after" photos from his race day at Backroads Gravel on Saturday. 😂

He said he was basically squinting through the mud and grit that was flying up everywhere for 90% of the race. We asked if he wanted to do the event again, even if it's wet and muddy, and his answer was "hell yeah!" which we think it very sporting!

The UCI World Champs is coming in October, and it's 50/50 chance of being very muddy and wet as well, or perfect conditions... we will find out!

PS. Oh, and yes the chair that blew over in the wind in the "after" photo is definitely the chef's kiss on these two photos. We know you will also notice it. 😆🥲

PPS. How cute was the glamping tent village Robert stayed in at the race village?! 🙏

Wet and muddy weekend! But everyone had a blast from all accounts. Robert finished up with a P6 position in his category, which is very respectable considering how competitive it was and it was a gravel state titles event. The campaign for the gravel world finals continues on!

If you have a few hours to spare next Sunday afternoon, come down to help clean up our local trails. 🌳

We are back on for monthly Dig Day’s on first Sunday on the month for 2026.

Next Dig Day will be Sunday, 2nd August.

Meet at Sea Container at the top car park (Shown as "Pines MTB Car Park" on Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/6JWGk9SaSKmKqpTEA).

Registration from 1.30pm for 2pm SHARP roll out.

Objectives - Clearing of drains throughout the trail network, minor pruning along the way.

Bring - shovel if you can, secateurs and/or fold out pruning saws may be handy. Gloves and any other PPE you may need. We have spare tools to borrow if needed.

Work until around 5pm, gather back at Sea Container for refreshments courtesy of our mates from .
