I started my role as Keeper number 2 , Archeologist of People's stories in Maroochydore , with trepidation  and self doubt, but with the question weighing on my mind, "Where is the heart of Maroochydore?"

I  had 19 participants  and collected 19 stories  as well as 19 symbols created and contributed , by the participants, to my sensory  map of Maroochydore.

I was fascinated and intrigued by the stories, unearthed by exploring  the senses of  touch and sensory memory, evoked by objects I'd collected  on my walks in Maroochydore.

I discovered the heart of Maroochydore is  in People's  stories  from its  origin, a tragic love story, to present day. Maroochydore 's heart continues to evolve, influenced by the stories of  people that visit, work and live here but always leading back to it's  origin.
Thank you to all the participants.  It was such a joy  to meet you and uncover your stories. Just imagine how many  more stories  are out there just waiting to be discovered and shared🙏

Sense of Place'  Exhibition  is showing until 2nd August upstairs at the Mary Cairn Cross Scenic Reserve. My art piece ,Eddies, is a little hard to find as it's placed around the corner to the right of the Exhibition  as you walk in through the main door. You will need to look up and immediately  to the right as you enter. If you enter via the fire doors  from the viewing platform and walk around, you will not see my picture unless you look up and around the corner and to the left as you exit.
Eddies references currents in electricity and water. Both can be helpful and harmful in different ways.
I would love for my picture to spark a conversation/ story telling and sharing. Eddies tells of my struggle with my love of nature , our beautiful  native  flora and fauna and how it's  being colonised, and removed, built on and polluted in the name of progress. Yet I live in a city and like the ease of convenience  that city living provides.  What happened to all the wildlife that inhabited the golf course that is now being built upon, to form the new Maroochydore city centre? I feel the guilt and the hurt. How do you feel?  Eddies story within, is written  and displayed  on the wall in the exhibition. What else do you see and feel when you look at Eddies.?

Rug up and come up to the mountain where the art, views and beautiful reserve will entrance you.
