Unboxing the Faema Urania ☕✨
Faema, Milan, 1958. Model Urania. 2 groups, 10 litres, lovingly restored by Officina Maltoni for a collector.
Faema has always drawn inspiration from stars, planets, and astronomical events when naming its machines. With the Urania, the brand embraced a true “space age” aesthetic, with unique shapes and futuristic details.
One of its most innovative features is the backlit glass front panel, a bold design choice that anticipated Faema’s extensive use of plexiglass in the mid 1950s. The seashell shaped cupola shows off this material beautifully.
This piston operated machine, nicknamed “a braccio” in Naples, eliminated the use of steam. It offered rapid coffee preparation and remarkable ease of use for baristas. A true icon of mid-century Italian espresso culture.
