“We started the morning with a smoking ceremony, then headed to our first stop to see timber harvesting in process, with trees harvested at 28 years, followed by the conservation planning and environmental elements involved in planting from seedlings.
“We then went into the middle of a coupe and went through the process of thinning the plantation, which is where much of the FSC®- certified timber used to make our very own Mandura Carbon Neutral Australian Made Copy Paper comes from,” shared Emma-Lee Watt-Jones, State Sales Manager – VIC/TAS.
Thank you to Timberlands Pacific and Forest Stewardship Council Australia and New Zealand for inviting us to be part of the FSC Forest Walk at the Taswood Estate, a 54,000-hectare plantation in northern Tasmania predominantly established with FSC®-certified Radiata Pine. We absolutely loved having the opportunity to see responsible forestry in action and what it takes to provide the wood pulp to create Australia's only locally manufactured FSC®-certified copy paper firsthand.
