Thank you to everyone who gathered today to share Gerry Georgatos’ book, Cleveland Dodd: Child of the Desert Sunrise. A beautiful smoking and welcome from Aunty Tina Hayden. Much admiration for Roxy Moore for holding everyone so well and to Roxy, Ron Bin Swani from .reinvestment.wa and Gerry Georgatos for sharing their knowledge and insights.

Thank you to Cleveland’s mum, Nadene, and his aunty Montana for such a powerful statement.

Cleveland Dodd should still be alive. If you don’t know much about him as a person and his life beyond the headline, or if you don’t fully understand just how preventable Cleveland’s death was, or just how terrible prisons in WA are, and how tangible the solutions available to government, then please read Gerry’s book. I think that most of us who can learn something from it. Every dollar from the third edition goes to Cleveland’s family, and we also have many copies of the older editions free to anyone who wants one.

Rebirth is the very personal story of Antoun’s mum, Laila, who was just coming-of-age in Beirut, Lebanon, when the Lebanese Civil War broke out in April 1975.

Please join us for an important community event, to hear directly from Nadene Dodd, mother of Cleveland Dodd, alongside with Noongar lawyer and advocate Roxy Moore.

Mother’s Day had me reflecting a lot on what it means to be a mother pushing for justice against cruel systems. 16yo Cleveland Dodd’s death in youth detention was an avoidable tragedy. The work to prevent more people from dying, more mothers from having to bury their children, belongs to all of us.

The event is centred around Gerry Georgatos’ book, Cleveland Dodd: Child of the Desert Sunrise. Gerry will be there and the book is available for purchase now from Rabble and at the event, with proceeds going to a fund for Cleveland Dodd’s siblings.

We're open tomorrow! (Saturday)
Usually we close on public holidays to make sure that everyone at least tries to get some downtime, but we know so many people are trying to complete the .bookcrawl.australia .
