This is such a beautiful story. A Frenchman who fell in love with tea and moved to Yunnan province, the true birthplace of tea with thousands of years of history. This is exactly the region we source all our teas from, and we visit these gardens every year to hand-select our products. Once you’ve been, you can’t stop going back. The most incredible, beautiful tea region on earth.

Our Japanese style matcha comes fresh from this region, the very same place where matcha was born. China’s been making it ever since, and now their production’s absolutely massive, they’re the world’s biggest producer. Some of that Chinese matcha even gets exported to Japan. So when you buy Japanese matcha, you might actually be getting tea from its original home, just with a middleman in between. The quality is second to none, worldwide.
It’s such a fascinating story, tea’s birthplace, reborn and booming in China today. Love sharing these little history lessons with our customers.
