Round 3, Sports Compact: Neon Nights at Sydney Motorsport Park is done.
After the initial heartbreak, I’m left with that all-too-familiar feeling of disappointment that it just wasn’t my weekend. Mechanical gremlins followed us around from the start, so I never really got a proper crack at the track.
But even if it didn’t perform the way I wanted, it definitely looked the part. The underglow lights and NASCAR-style pink numbers made sure of that.
A few good mates reminded me to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. As a committee, we pulled off something pretty special. Seeing Neon Nights come together after countless hours of planning and hard work made me realise just how much we achieved.
I’m incredibly proud of every single committee member, volunteer, official, competitor and supporter who helped make this event the spectacle it became. It was a huge team effort, and the positive feedback has made it all worthwhile.
A huge thank you to Lawrie, Anthony and Trav. They threw everything they had at the car all weekend and never stopped trying to get me back out on track. I really appreciate the time, effort and determination you all put in.
Now it’s time to rest, recoup, rebuild the car, and get ready for Round 4 in October as we head back to Winton.
See you all there. 🏁
