Bookwood

Bookwood Bookwood: We've been selling books in all genres for over 25 years. We are an internet-only bookshop. Cosmopolitan Bookshop is legendary in the book trade.

Bookwood is owned and run by Australian bookseller Noel Hart. Noel has been involved in the secondhand book trade for over 25 years in both Australia and the USA. He began his bookselling career in Los Angeles in the mid-1990s, managing Cosmopolitan Bookshop on busy Melrose Avenue in Hollywood for ten years. More than one book has been written about it. The legions of stories about the store itsel

f and owner Eli Goodman are never-ending. Cosmopolitan Bookshop existed for fifty-seven years (1958-2015), which made it one of LA’s longest running independent bookshops. After relocating back to Australia in 2006, Noel worked and catalogued at three well-known Melbourne bookshops: Bradstreet’s Book Shop (in Hawthorn), Berkelouw Books (in Armadale), and Book Affair (which expanded from its initial location in Carlton into two additional stores in Fitzroy and Brunswick). Following the closure of all three local staples, Noel launched an online-only bookshop, Bookwood, and over the past several years his time has been consumed by cataloguing over 30,000 items on AbeBooks. When not anchored to a computer, Noel travels extensively, buying books and visiting bookshops across Australia and the USA, along with literary-inspired ventures throughout the UK and Europe. Numerous items culled from these explorations are listed online. Noel Hart is a member of the Book Collectors’ Society of Australia, The Private Libraries Association, and the British Liszt Society. Bookwood buy books. Please contact us for details. Bookwood is an internet bookshop, all items are housed in a warehouse, and all orders must be placed via AbeBooks.
