A rare celestial event known as a "seasonal Black Moon" will occur on August 22-23, 2025.

This is defined as the third New Moon in an astronomical season of four New Moons instead of the usual three. Such an event happens approximately once every 33 months.

The Black Moon takes place in the New Moon phase, meaning the side of the Moon facing Earth is not illuminated by the Sun, so it will not be visible in the night sky. However, this absence of moonlight creates ideal conditions for stargazing, making faint celestial objects more visible.

Depending on your time zone, the Black Moon will fall on August 22 for regions like the western US, western Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, and northwest Mexico, while most of the world, including much of the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, will experience it on August 23.
