I'm sure this will come as no surprise as I have been completely MIA here for some time.

Our time at McKeon Road has come to an end, and I hand back the keys on Wednesday.

No regrets, so many great memories making the space the beautiful place that it was and meeting all my lovely customers in store. I truly am grateful for it all.

The last several months I felt pulled in all directions, doing them all but none of them well so I stepped back and really evaluated was important to me and that was being 100% present and available for my boys.

Being able to do every school drop off, every school pick up and always be the first to put my hand up for any school helping or excursions, having saturadays clear for sport or holidays make me and my boys so happy.

But what does this all mean for the Calder Co.... well to be honest I'm asking myself the same question (for now). Our website is currently closed while I relocated stock to storage and haven't set any reopening date as yet and still working out how things will look going forward.

You may have wondered why we are known as a Concept store and what does that even mean?

As a shop, we sell a carefully curated and unique selection of products that resemble a lifestyle.

A lifestyle of those that appreciate and value:

➡️ Slow batch processing (none of that big chain mass-produced products).

➡️ The art of handmade and the curators behind them.

➡️ Ethically sourced materials, sustainable packaging and lox tox products.

➡️ Community focus based trading.

So, how do we make this happen?
We pull together like-minded brands and small business owners and makers that share some or all of these values, which span different lines, such as fashion, beauty and homewares.
Including our own in house made products.

Combine this with our soon to be launching workshops, which bring these individuals together that embody this lifestyle to grow our local community.

It's a no-brainer for us really.

With our brand new product launch just around the corner, I thought I would take this opportunity to explain why we landed on the name { renew } for our self care range.

First off, the true meaning

re•new
An opportunity to refresh and begin again with endless possibility, leaving the past behind.
Opening yourself to new ways of thinking and feeling.

As someone who has experienced unthinkable situations and moments that presented themselves where (wanted or not) change was inevitable and life constantly evolves.

Navigating grief, dealing with conflict, shifting into a motherhood role, and immense pressures both physically and mentally takes its toll, i had to find opportunities to reset and this range will 100% support you through the shifts and transitions in your own life.

Secondly, why this word resonates for me? And it's quite amusing.

As you know, my name is Renee, but on many occasions when typing my name I accidentally hit "w" instead of "e" for the last letter of my name, resulting in me signing off as Renew 🫠

It's actually ridiculous how many emails I get saying Hi Renew because I have submitted my name incorrectly 🤦‍♀️

So it only made sense to name it this and have a little laugh to myself at the same time.

I'd love to know what you think of our new self care range name or if you have a funny story about how you have misspelled your name (hopefully it's not just me 🫣)
