People often ask me what my most treasured piece of memorabilia is. The list of treasured items would take me an eternity to ponder and list. That being said, today I acquired potentially my most treasured piece. The official framed owner’s photograph of my favorite racehorse, Galilee, winning the 1966 Melbourne Cup. It just doesn’t get any better than this 😎

Hi everyone. I am excited to share that I have accepted an invitation to attend the Auctioneer’s & Valuers Association of Australia (AVAA) bi-annual conference to be held at The Island Hotel, Surfers Paradise, from 7 to 8 May 2026.

The prestigious event brings together senior executives, policymakers and industry experts to discuss emerging issues and challenges confronting auction and valuation professionals in Australia.

I will be contributing to this highly professional event as a guest speaker/panel member to discuss “Managing Expectations in Sight-Unseen Online Auctions”.

Thought it would be of interest to share my interview with A Current Affair which went to air 5 February. Unfortunately the Latin Phrase “Caveat Emptor” (Buyer Beware) still readily applies to the celebrity/sporting signed memorabilia industry. As for certificates of authenticity, unfortunately most aren’t worth the paper they are written. As a seasoned professional valuer of this type of memorabilia I urge people who want to purchase signed items from others to do their due diligence and check the provinence on what is being offered. Forgeries and misrepresentation are still common in the industry. My personal view is that anything with a limited run of more that 100 of the same items signed by a celebrity or sportsperson is not limited. Best to also have a photo of the subject signing the item if you can. Happy collecting …. There are still lots of ethical and credible people in the collectables industry

Chuffed to acquire one of the rarest Golden Age Australian published Walt Disney comics today. I have had this comic on my wants list since the early 1980’s. Titled “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Walt Disney”, this comic was published by John Sands Pty Ltd c1938. It features Snow White comic strips that were printed singularly in the Australian Woman’s Mirror magazine prior to and during WW2.

This elusive comic measures 12 1/2 inches (31.5cm) wide and 9 1/2 inches (24cm) high and it is in fantastic condition considering it is almost 90 years old.

As a collector and certified valuer, I rank this comic equally with the much sought after Walt Disney comic “Donald Duck Finds Pirate Gold” published by Ayres & James in the early 1940’s, as the rarest of all the Australian Walt Disney reprint comics produced here. My assessment is that this is the only copy of this comic book in existance. Rarity 10/10 - true value Priceless.

A very sad day. Robert was one of the founding committee members of the AFL Premiership Players Club when it was formed in 2000. I formed a great relationship with him in my role as the CEO of the AFL PPC. He was always available to support and attend our many functions and events. He will be sorely missed by all that had the privilege to have known him. Condolences to Robert’s family, his former team mates and friends.
