Did you know... you can often spot dyslexics in the workplace (and in the classroom) by their strengths and challenges.

We often score very high in some things ⬆️ (often in the top percentile) and very low in others ⬇️ (often in the bottom percentile). This is known as a 'spiky profile'. 📈

For example:
😊 71% of dyslexics are great at communicating (verbal reasoning) - but 89% are poor spellers (working memory)
🔎 8 out of 10 dyslexics are above average at lateral thinking (questioning), but 9 in 10 struggle getting thoughts on paper (organisation).

But, in our new AI-driven world, technology can help mitigate our challenges and our strengths are now the most valuable skills to every employer, across the world.

Finished this morning Stanislas Dehaene’s brilliant book “Reading in the Brain.”

As expert reading adults, we forget how difficult it is to read.

A compelling case that all children regardless of their socioeconomic background will benefit from phonics-based decoding skills in the foundation years.

We’re on the right track implementing high-quality phonics and explicit teaching in every classroom in Victoria.

This weekend, Saturday 10th Feb, there's FREE family fun and entertainment at Goonawarra's 'Share the LOVE Festival'. Bring the kids, grandkids and grandparents, bring EVERYONE!

We will be located inside the Goonawarra Community Centre at 20 Dornoch Drive, Sunbury 3429 from 10am-3pm.

Kyla will be debuting her new business; 'Rings & Things,' so she'd love to see familiar faces. She's selling stretchy fidgets, fidget spinning rings, mood rings, glow in the dark tattoos (with a cool black box to check them out glowing!) and lucky dips for kids. Prices are $1 for sheets of tattoos up to $6 for fidget rings. She has limited stock so please visit early.
