Huon Pine R***e Pen
A pen for someone who'd appreciate the detail. The clip is cast as a lever-action r***e, right down to the loop lever and trigger guard, and the tip finishes in a polished bullet with a warm copper sheen.
The barrel is turned from Huon pine — one of the slowest-growing trees on earth, found only in the cool rainforest of Tasmania's south-west. It grows a fraction of a millimetre a year, which is what gives it that impossibly fine, even grain and its soft honey glow. The high oil content makes it silky under the hand and leaves it faintly fragrant; you'll notice it when you pick the pen up.
Huon is no longer felled. What's worked today is salvaged timber, so every blank has already had a long life before it reached the lathe.
Each barrel is turned to shape, sanded through the grits and hand-finished until the surface is glass-smooth. No two pieces of Huon are the same, so the figure on your pen is its own.
