As we have mentioned one of the most important things to us here at Hollow Hill is the sharing of our knowledge and we started this with our first “As the wheel turns” post & now we introduce our “Witch to English Dictionary” series. This series will be focused on introducing magickal concepts at the most fundamental levels to help those who are considering dipping their toes in to begin to find their feet. For our first post we are starting at the very beginning with the term Witch.

Many of us will have read the Roald Dahl classic “The Witches” in our younger years and while we don’t all wear gloves, wigs and sensible shoes, Mr Dahl did get one fundamental thing right, any one around you could be a Witch. A Witch isn’t a person easily identified in a glance & they aren’t a person that fits the stereotype sold in costume shops & they aren’t always the person you’d expect them to be if they identified themselves as one. So what then is a Witch?

“To be a Witch, is to be a healer, teacher, seeker, giver and protector of all things. If this is your path may you walk it with light and integrity” - Unknown. I am sure that most people will have seen this quote somewhere across their social media & while it might be oversimplified it is pretty darned close. At its most basic a Witch is a person whose spiritual path & practice is centred on the natural world & the cycles therein. That said there is no single way to be a Witch & someone who is passionate about the environment for example is not necessarily a Witch, the spiritual elements & practices are the key element here. Some Witches are Doctors who cast spells and others are Veterans who read Tarot cards & still more are those who you’d bump into the pub or at the supermarket and never think twice but who head home to celebrate the Sabbats in extravagant style. Being a Witch really is what you make of it & magickal journey that is as unique to you as your handwriting.

It has been a funny old week and I have been truly moved by all your support for our fledgling business. Indeed the support has been so overwhelmingly positive and we are needing to have our first maker session to restock our Shine Bright and Sunlight soaps and our Candlelight candles.
Earlier this evening just as we'd gotten our Witchlings to bed and as I was getting all my bits and pieces out of the apothecary to get stuck into my maker session, my google photos app decided to remind me that it was a year to the day that I finally got my soaps and candle creations working the way I wanted to for the little dream that has blossomed into Hollow Hill.
I tell you what though that silly little push notification has certainly amped up the warm and fuzzy feelings I get making all the things for you all and I can't wait to see this new batch find their new homes too.

It has been a huge week for us here at Hollow Hill but we are never to busy to say thank you and to pay it forward. We genuinely could not have done it with out the support of Hanah from Hanah Williams Printmaker she is the artist behind our logo image which she created from some very sketchy inspiration and direction on our behalf. That said we absolutely love it!!!!
Thanks so much to Hanah and if you are in the market for some really lovely and unique prints to adorn your walls I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Eeeeeeek!!!! It's almost time!!!!!!
We open at 10am AEST tomorrow morning!!!!!!!
We are feeling a little excited and terrified at the thrilling prospect of welcoming everyone through our digital doors tomorrow. Tonight we are putting the finishing touches on the website and happily firing up the electric cauldron to make another batch of candles for our Helping Hand support range 😃

Hollow Hill first came into the world thanks to my love of herbs and crystals coupled with my joy in using this knowledge to help to support those around me, even while we endured the distance brought on by the pandemic.
Throughout 2020 I had been keeping busy making soaps, candles and beard oils as gifts for friends and family. Each gift was being specially formulated to support them to them overcome or work through something they had going on, grief over a lost job, struggles with sleeping, flailing self esteem and so many other things.
Before long I was getting asked to make gifts for friends of friends and after much soul searching I decided to take the plunge and make a real go of it getting my wares out to the world. After 12 months of experimentation and testing we have finally settled on a range we really love and that we think can truly support you to live your most magickal life.

Time is really counting down on us!

Next Tuesday's Equinox will be extra special for us here at Hollow Hill as well as celebrating Ostara with our family it is also the day we are finally opening our digital doors to the world. We've been busily finishing up the Website and the Patreon and the Etsy store and the product labels and packing products and writing blogs and learning posts and so many other things that were needed to make this launch happen. We are ridiculously excited and genuinely cannot wait to welcome you all into our world.

One of the values that we hold dear here at Hollow Hill is showcasing and supporting Australian businesses and Asutralian Artisans. We make our very own artisan soaps, candles, beard oils, spell papers and our own range is planned to grow and grow but we can't and don't want to be experts in everything. Recognising our own limitations gives us the exciting opportunity to partner with our local artisans.
Our first two partners are the lovely ladies from Avalon Pottery, in NSW, and Crystal Inspired, in QLD, who are creating the most wonderful stoneware and crystal pieces to adorn your altar. They are a dream to collaborate with and I don't mind admitting there were genuine squeals of excitement unpacking their first wares.
