An all Aussie Affair - The Ruben Distinction True Jumbo.
A few years ago we had the privilege of inviting a handful of our clients on a trip to the Otway Ranges here in Victoria to witness the skill and effort it takes to fell a Blackwood tree for use in guitar making. Murray and James from Otway Tonewoods were gracious enough to take us all out into the forest to show us how they harvest these timbers sustainably and with the greater good of the forest firmly in mind. This guitar was built from that very tree that we watched fall. From a tree nearly at the end of it's life cycle - given a second lease on life as a beautiful, bespoke instrument.
Not only are the Blackwood back and sides from the Otways, the soundboard is Otway Ranges Redwood (also from OT), the fingerboard and bridge are crafted from Mulga (another native timber) and the Nautilus Ammonite fossils used for the inlays are also from our coastline. This guitar will be very much at home with it's new owner in Port Fairy.
