Tuesday’s quilt inspiration … another one for my ever-growing list of quilts I’d love to make one day!

I came across this fabulous red and white quilt on Pinterest while searching for examples of Burgoyne Surrounded quilts, and it stopped me in my tracks!

It isn’t what I would normally think of as a traditional Burgoyne Surrounded design, but I did find a very similar antique quilt in the International Quilt Museum’s collection, where it was identified as a Burgoyne Surrounded.

There’s something so wonderful about a classic two-colour quilt. I love the simplicity of the red and white, the repetition of those tiny squares and the beautiful secondary patterns they create. So graphic and striking!

I haven’t been able to find the original source of this particular quilt, but it has certainly earned a place on my wish list! ❤️

Sometimes the simplest designs are the most beautiful! 🌸

Our Harriet is a perfect example. Made up of rows of little triangles, it lets the gorgeous Liberty prints do the talking. I love the simplicity of the design and the lovely rhythm created by the repetition, with each fabric adding its own little touch of interest.

There’s something so appealing about a quilt that doesn’t need to be complicated to be beautiful!

What a lovely day with my Lucy Quilt class! 🧵✨

Today was our third class, and it was wonderful to see everyone’s quilts coming together so beautifully. The focus has now shifted to finishing the appliqué borders, with lots of hand stitching, making perfect little leaves and flowers.

The quilts are looking absolutely beautiful — pretty, pink and wonderfully girly! It’s so lovely to see each one taking shape and becoming something truly special.

Thank you to everyone who took part in our first Lucy Workshop, and for all your hard work and enthusiasm over the past three classes. You’re doing brilliantly, and I can’t wait to see your finished quilts! ❤️

There’s so much that I love about this wonderful quilt I found on kaya select

The block is a Saw Tooth variation but it’s the clever placement that really caught my eye. The careful block placement, sashing and cornerstones, create wonderful secondary patterns. The Flying Geese border pick up the triangular shapes within the blocks and frames the whole quilt beautifully. I’m loving how the cornerstones create the uneven 9 patches using the outer squares in the blocks.

Simple, graphic and beautifully considered.

One of those quilts that reminds me just how much I love a square and a triangle!

If you’re working on a quilt made up of lots of blocks all the same size, this is a terrific way to keep track of your progress and keep an eye on the overall colour balance. Our Farmer’s Wife girls use this fun little hack 😊

Take a photo of each individual quilt block, making sure you’re directly above it so it looks square in the image. Crop each photo to the edges of the block and save them all in a dedicated album on your phone.

You’ll have an overview of all your blocks, right at your fingertips whenever you need it! Lovely to look back on as your collection grows, too 😊
