Traditionally celebrated on August 1st in the Southern Hemisphere, Imbolc celebrates the banishing of winter and the stirring of new life in the earth. The Goddess is recovering after giving birth to the newborn Sun God. He is depicted as a small child nursing from his mother. The God is growing, spreading sunshine all around causing things to grow 🌿⠀

It is a time to honour the feminine and get ready for spring. Imbolc is a time of hope, renewal and fresh starts after the winter’s sluggishness❄️⠀

The Sun starts to strengthen and the days grow longer, symbolising the return and renewal of life. Energetically it’s a time of awakening and new energy and is the day we sow the seeds of what we want to achieve in the coming year. It’s also a time of purification and cleansing after the long dark of winter☀️⠀

Imbolc recognizes the maiden aspect of the triple goddess – the fresh, the young, the innocent, the new – and is strongly connected with the Goddess Brigid. Like the Goddess herself, Imbolc generates feelings of hope and reminds us that spring is on its way. It is said that wherever she walked, small flowers would appear. As a Sun Goddess her gifts are light (knowledge), inspiration, and the vital and healing energy of the Sun 🌱 ⠀

Yesterday at the Bendigo Witches Fair was extra special for us 🖤✨
