The genesis of Garad silk traces back to the heartlands of West Bengal, where traditions are steeped in reverence for artistry and heritage. Known interchangeably as Garad or Gorod, the name itself holds significance, derived from the Bengali word ‘Garad’ meaning ‘White.’ It is a manifestation of purity and sanctity, qualities deeply cherished in the ethos of Bengal’s cultural heritage. What sets the Garad saree apart is its unmistakable identity – characterized by a striking red border adorned with delicate paisley motifs. But beyond its aesthetic allure lies a meticulous process that elevates this silk saree to an emblem of elegance and grace.
