The Bag in Braid Photographed by Sean Fennesey in an ambitious study of the braid in changing light and a myriad of clashing domestic textures. The work is a play on a vision for wearing the new pieces with textured and tonal clothing. The first in the textured surface series is a brown tiled bathroom with matching malamine beaureu.

The creative process for the Bag in Braid project started with an urge to amalgamate primitive craft techniques with bold modern color. Intense texture has been intentionally pursued to lift static color blocking. The story is long and the work is a labour of love, the outcome in its first iteration is presented as art. The story will unfold, the intention is to wear the pieces for daily life, to inspire desire, bring joy and to lean in to color and craft for daily life.

24 one of a kind braided bags presented by founder Amanda Rettig this week at the Holus Bolus exhibition as part of the off site Sydney Contemporary program.

Each numbered piece is made from hundreds of cut and hand turned strips of leather that are braided over leather lining.

The exhibition is open this week. Sold pieces will remain on display until 7th September.
