As the Australian distributor for Southern Pacific Boats, we’re proud to share that Southern Pacific Boats - Inflatables has entered a new six-year partnership with Australian Sailing and the Australian Sailing Team, becoming the Official RIB supplier through to the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.

Our PerformR and SeekR RIBs will support the AST coaching fleet as they work alongside athletes chasing glory at both the Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympics.

MarinePlus is excited to support this partnership and bring SPB’s proven RIB range to even more sailing clubs across Australia. 🚤

On a boat, your gear takes constant punishment – from ropes, rails and rough deck surfaces. It needs to perform every time.

That’s why Gill push their fabrics beyond industry standards with the Martindale Abrasion Test. Using industrial grit paper to simulate years of real-world wear in a matter of hours.

Every garment undergoes a minimum of three hours of continuous abrasion testing. The highest-wear areas are tested for 35+ hours.

Spray, waves and rain – your kit is constantly exposed to water.

That’s where Durable Water Repellent (DWR) makes the difference. It causes water to bead and run cleanly off the fabric, rather than soaking in.

Without it, even a waterproof garment can wet out – feeling heavy, cold and less effective over time.

That’s why Gill spray test every waterproof fabric they use, replicating sustained exposure to ensure water continues to bead off the surface – every time.

The Finn Gold Cup has an incredible legacy; from sailing legends like Ben Ainslie to the next generation ready to make their mark.
Through Gill, we’re proud supporters of this year’s event at RQYS, and can’t wait to see the racing get underway next week!

In 1956, the Finn Gold Cup was presented to the International Finn Association (IFA) and has since become the pinnacle of the Finn sailing world. Notable record holders for consecutive wins include W***y Kuhweide in the 60's, Jörg Bruder in the 70's, Lasse Hjortnäs in the 80's and Fredrik Lööf in the 90's. But the current record holder, still unbeaten, is Ben Ainslie from Great Britain, taking home the trophy six times – 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2012.

Ben also took his Finn, named "Rita", to Olympic Gold in Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012.
