Family abuse does not always look like a bruise or a black eye.

The month of May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, and we're using the occasion to increase awareness that there are actually many different kinds of family abuse - not all of which are immediately visible.

Take a moment to read the flyer below, and learn more about the different kinds of abuse and the signs to look out for.

If this impacts or triggers you in any way, please reach out for support.

You can call GEGAC’s Family Violence Outreach and Support Team – fully private and confidential – on 03 5150 0700 or freecall 1800 844 945.

📖Storytelling is at the heart of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. It has sustained communities, nurtured relationships and highlighted the interconnectedness of child, family and community. Building connection with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families is key to creating a space where they can share their stories. An upcoming webinar held during National Reconciliation Week will discuss ways to build trust and genuine connection. It will be held at 1pm on Wednesday May 29. Hmmmm. Thoughts anybody?

Common Grace has a range of resources available, developed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Christian Leaders, to help church and school communities engage deeply this National Reconciliation Week, 27 May to 3 June.

These church resources include an Acknowledgement of Country, prayers, bible readings, songs, a creative activity and a special video message from Bianca Manning, Gomeroi woman and Common Grace’s Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Justice Coordinator, to help communities engage and reflect on our focus this year of ‘Reconciliation Through the Cross’.

Sign up to receive Common Grace’s newly released range of National Reconciliation Week resources and explore how your faith community can engage in this important moment to reflect, deeply listen and take action together.

Raising money for V***A, to support our babies in-care.
🖤💛❤️

The Tweddle team are gathering next week for a National Reconciliation Week fundraiser for V***A. Help support our Morning Tea for Culture event to raise money for Aboriginal children in care.

Tweddle has an important role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.

The west has the highest rate of Aboriginal children removed from their families. We have the opportunity to be a part of positive change.

We invite you to donate to our Tweddle’s Morning Tea for Culture here:
