Here’s a little selfie of me feeling relaxed as I’m on a short trip up north visiting family. I’m fortunate to have family members who’ve chosen lovely places to visit. 😎

I always enjoy the challenge of packing minimally and yet still wearing colour. My tactic this time was to stick to three key colours plus a neutral and use my Vivienne Westwood cap and / or a silk scarf (not pictured) to tie them all together. It’s the same principle you use when decorating a room and you find a rug or a piece of art to base your colour theme on.

I’ll be back in the studio soon to get cracking on more Colour Analysis and style consultations. 🌸

Do I look happy?! It’s because I’m speaking with 7 National News about the arrival in Australia of the European secondhand fashion and goods platform.

Buying vintage and secondhand is a wonderful way to be sustainable, create great personal style and potentially grab a bargain.

I’m a keen secondhand shopper and I enjoy helping clients find vintage treasures.

If you missed the interview there’s a link to it on my website in the media section. 🌸

Beautiful fashion artefacts in the entrance of Mill Place Merchants

What a great little speakeasy style cocktail bar in a historic building right in the middle of Melbourne; that’s a count of three of my favourite things in one place!

For those with sharp eyes, I am the red shape reflected in the mirror alongside my friend.

My lovely client, Jem, could have chosen to trust her Colour Analysis to AI but then she wouldn’t have had the same opportunity to pick my brain about posing for photographs (something neither of us are fond of but must do!). And then we wouldn’t have enjoyed our belly laughs as we hammed it up and it all became ridiculous!

These unexpected and delightful moments of true rapport and sharing personal stories are things I treasure about working with clients in person. As clever as AI may be, it simply cannot replicate these moments of genuine human connection.

Another thing I love is watching clients’ faces as they witness the various colours. People frequently soften and relax as we move closer to colours that illuminate them. It’s important to me to show people what does NOT work for them as well as what does, to provide context for their final colour palette. This helps to reinforce their understanding of the quality of colours that work best for them.

Sometimes people are fearful or shy about coming in for a Colour Analysis, but it really is a lot of fun! 🌸

When I’m not in the studio doing Colour Analysis, you’ll often see me pounding the pavements of Melbourne looking for just the right outfit for a client. In this instance I was looking on behalf of a mother of the groom.

I prefer to steer clear of anything resembling a mall or shopping centre with overhead fluorescent lighting and air con. Not only do they zap our energy, they also destroy the magic by making people and things look flat and ugly. Colours can look vastly different under artificial lighting so I don’t recommend shopping that way, particularly if you’re wanting to boost your confidence. I’ve had many a client tell me they hate shopping for clothes and on the rare occasion I’ve needed to shop in artificial environments, I end up hating it too!

Independent boutiques and designers, vintage ateliers and markets are the way I like to go, and I believe that’s often where the best clothes are found. Seeing beautiful clothes is pure joy for me but it’s also an occupational hazard! Although I’d never buy anything for myself while working, I have been known to return to look at things I’ve spied earlier. 😉 Coffee breaks are also a necessary part of the job, as shopping really can be hard work!

If you’re in need of a special outfit and don’t want to look like everyone else, or risk wearing the same outfit as someone else at your event, get in touch; I’d love to help you out. 🌸

Here‘s a really interesting question, with a formula to get you thinking: read about the maths behind a sustainable wardrobe.

‘Sustainable’ has become a trendy word but many people who like to apply it to themselves haven’t done the maths.

Finding beautiful clothes is an occupational hazard for me. I buy really mindfully but because I don’t buy according to trends I hang onto my clothes so I have a good amount of them. They do get lots of wear, but I’m not sure I’d pass this maths test… what about you?

If you’d like some help understanding how to buy more mindfully, I can help you with this. Get in touch if this is of interest.🌸

The environmental impact of a garment often depends on how many times it's worn. In a sense, every additional wear helps "offset" the garment's carbon footprint.

Sometimes we find an accessory that hits the mark in every way; as I have with these awesome earrings from

Numerous design considerations are present in these earrings:

1. The colour reflects that of my eyes, and whenever we wear our eye colour, our eyes sparkle

2. The shape incorporates both the squareness of my jawline and the curved waves of my hair (perfect!)

3. The scale works, being noticeable but not overwhelming on me

4. The texture is spot on for me, as sheen reflects my own texture, as I am neither matte nor shiny

5. The comfort factor! These are light as a feather and that is essential for me.

The fact that these are made locally, by hand, by people properly trained in design is very important to me because I HATE fast fashion and I’m known for supporting local designers. Good design is evident in both form and function.

If you haven’t discovered yet, I can totally recommend them. I’ve had my first pair of these beautiful earrings for years now, they’ve had plenty of wears and they are still perfect. Thank you to for creating such beautiful products! And thank you Kieran, for the photo. 🌸

If your job is to look good (ie if appearance is a non-negotiable for your job) you might be able to claim a tax deduction for a colour and style consultation, or maybe a wardrobe or personal shopping consultation.

As an example; wedding celebrants need to have a variety of outfits they can draw upon depending on the occasion and event type. It’s important that they consider their outfit in detail as they often form the backdrop for a couple or family portrait. Unlike a guest, a celebrant forms part of the visual story of the event they’re presiding over and they are likely to feature in cherished photos for decades. I made this point during my presentation at annual conference (thank you to for the images).

If you’re in a similar situation, with your appearance being essential to the way you earn your income, consider a consultation. Having trained as an image consultant rather than a stylist, I can advise you on what looks good as well as cultural, psychological and social factors to consider when choosing an outfit.

With the end of this financial year fast approaching, if you think you can claim a tax deduction for this, now would be a great time to invest in the way you present yourself.
