When it comes to hair care, dry shampoo might be the greatest, easiest hair trick in the history of the world. Who doesn’t want to catch an extra half hour of sleep in the morning while still rocking a great hair day? Dry shampoo soaks excess oil at the scalp, soothes and cleanses the scalp, boosts hair volume and growth and makes a blow dry last for days.
It is super easy to create a luxe ‘NO TOX’ dry shampoo powder at home. It can be customized for hair color (brunettes can say goodbye to that ashy hue at your roots) and scented with your favorite hair loving essential oils 🙌🏼.
HOW TO
Add to a glass bowl equal parts bentonite clay (to help absorb oil) and arrowroot powder (to boost volume). Make accordingly to sized container you will be using. An old spice jar is perfect!
Add Cocoa powder sparingly, mixing as you go to create a match to your hair color (blondes need not include).
Add 5-10 drops of your pick of essential oils. My top picks - Lavender (balances natural scalp oils), Rosemary (assists with dandruff and fights premature greying and hair thinning), Peppermint (stimulates hair growth).
Pour into container of choice. Store the excess in an airtight container in a dark, dry location.
Voila, No Tox DIY dry shampoo made in no longer than two minutes. Definitely one of my fave DIY’s🖤

When your cleaning products are so ‘clean’ that your children can help you clean 🍃.
Each of my kids have their own spray bottle filled with citrus infused vinegar - completely toxin free and safe for our little humans. We picked up some small stainless steel spray bottles from Kmart for $2 each. Perfect for little hands. My children LOVE to help clean up after each meal and spray down the tables and benches and everything else 🤦‍♀️.
Such a great way to get your kids busy & involved in helping out during self isolation and beyond.
Citrus infused vinegar recipe 👇🏻
Fill a jar with vinegar 2/3 of the way full.
Throw your citrus peels into the jar.
Let the citrus peels infuse into the vinegar for at least a week.
Fill up a spray bottle with one part citrus-infused vinegar, one part water.
Use as you would any household cleaner.

There are many steps to take on a zero waste journey, it just takes a little bit of commitment. Obviously, you don't have to do everything at once. Going zero waste is a journey. There is no one correct way to do something. Reducing your consumption is the most important thing you can do. But, in th...

Mind-blowing. Want to try it for yourself? If you are wanting to teach your children about germs - this one is for you!
Take some pepper and sprinkle it in a dish with plain water.
Get a second dish and fill it with hand soap and water. (I used a natural DIY hand wash).
Now, get the child to dip finger into the dish with pepper water and lol at their finger. It will have a few specks of pepper on it. These specks we will call ‘germs’. Ask you child if they can see the ‘germs’ on their finger.
Then ask then to dip their finger in the hand soap, making sure it’s fully submerged.
Now dip your soap-covered finger back into the dish of pepper water.
When you ask the child to swirl their finger in middle of the ‘germ’ water this time, miraculously, the pepper seems to flee, creating a "safe zone" around the child's finger.
This mimics how germs are removed from hands with soap and will give them a great understanding of the importance of washing their hands. My son loves this experiment and did it over and over. Once you have added a soapy finger, you will need to reset the experiment again. Yep we now have no pepper left in our house 🤦‍♀️.

If your feeling as thought you want to add a few things to your fridge & pantry over the next few days here is a little advice on how to do so while looking after your immune system.
Head to your local bulk store or health food store where you can pick up wholesome nutritious food for your family that will keep your immune system at optimum. Stocking up on foods with zero goodness will not be doing your immune system any favours at this time. Nourish your body form the inside out.
Perspective - We are selling shops out of vitamins yet the produce section and health food section at the supermarket is the only thing fully stocked 🤦‍♀️. Food for thought!
Green clean - One bottle of vinegar and a box of Bi-carb will literally clean your whole house for 2 weeks at minimum. And I mean from top to bottom. You can also use Bi-carb as washing powder and dish washer powder. Rather than spending a fortune and stocking up on cleaning products, it would be a great investment (will cost only a few dollars) to use this wherever you may need and it is toxin free!
Perspective - Our bodies literally become so overburdened with constantly trying to get rid of toxins it doesn’t allow the body to be doing the things it needs be doing like keeping the immune system at optimum. Use this time to think about lowering your toxic burden.
Purchase fresh produce and prepare and freeze. Freeze fruit for smoothies. Freeze fresh herbs in olive oil ice blocks. Freeze plant milks in ice cube trays. Freeze nourishing meals. This will ensure that you are able to upkeep a healthy diet rich in nutrition for your family. This is imperative.
Perspective - Back scaling our diet at this time consisting of mostly dry long life goods will not help strengthen our immune defences.
If your going to invest money, invest in things that are going to keep you self sufficient over the coming months and beyond. Reusable everything - im looking at you. Start thinking about ways you can become more self sufficient moving forward into coming weeks.
Perspective - I couldn’t be anymore thankful for our shift to live a more sustainable life right now. It’s bringing my family calm amongst the chaos.

What if all of this is a global masterclass.
What if this is a tutorial about the power of kindness.
What if this is a lesson to live a more sustainable and self sufficient lifestyle.
What if this is a wake up call for people to understand the importance of our local food system.
What if this is inspiration to grow what we can and as much as we can.
What if this is to teach those who are wasteful to waste less.
What if this is about communities moving forward - together.
What if this is to reunite people and planet.
What if this got us thinking a little more about what is this is here to teach us.
What if this was a global masterclass? How would we do?

We’re often tempted to throw out and replace our old things rather than find ways to recycle and reuse them. However, with just a little bit of imagination, items we might toss in the trash can be retooled for a useful second life.
This morning I spent literally 5 minutes cutting up old bath towels that had become discoloured and a little worse for wear.
Cut old towels towels into flannels for wiping sticky hands and faces, or mopping up those inevitable spills.
⁣.
Pop them under sink next to a bucket - once soiled pop into bucket and take to the wash every couple of days. This will avoid the use of paper towel and disposable wipes.
I admit, a year ago I never would have done this. I would have wondered why I would, when I could just buy new flannels or use disposable wipes. Now I love upcycling things that not only help make my life easier, reduce waste and also help me cut expenses.

In these very days be so very aware and discerning of what media you choose to consume.
Recent mainstream news is turning society into a fearful ‘fight for yourself above all else’ show. And I’m starting to sense the feeling we are going to see humanity at its worst. Let’s just look after one another.
Keep fit and well friends - rest, adhere to a healthy lifestyle, drink plenty of water and build up our immune systems. A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats will encourage an immune system ready for whatever the world throws at us and let’s use whatever feelings we are feeling at this time as a healthy motivator.
Calmly do the things we can control. Turn off the news and do some gardening. Dirt under your nails is super for the immune system and your mental health.
Above all else let’s send the message to our kids that when faced with a threat the right action is to reason, be rational, open minded and to have selfless concern for the welfare of others.
Patience not panic
Facts not fear
Open hearts 🖤
