As you may know, Moorabool Shire Council are planning new open space, indoor sports courts and aquatic facilities for the community of
Bacchus Marsh and Ballan. Your sports club, association or school has been identified as a stakeholder with particular interest
in the development of these sites. There is a live website that allows you to view the design options for each site and provide valuable feedback.
Council have selected Peddle Thorp Architects to help them achieve a community and stakeholder driven design.
So why Peddle Thorp?
With over 50 completed community sports and leisure centres in our portfolio, each of which was designed in collaboration and consultation with our clients, key stakeholders & the community, we have the experience to ensure that the final outcome for Bacchus Marsh is not only fit for purpose but takes into consideration as many user โwish listโ items as possible.
For Moorabool Shire Council, five locations have been selected :
Taverner Street Site - vacant land, corner of Fisken St. Bacchus Marsh
Siberia Site โ vacant land on Taverner St. Bacchus Marsh
Maddingley Park, corner of Station St and Grant St.
Peppertree Park, Bacchus Marsh
Mill Park, Ballan Outdoor Pool Site
The Taverner Street Site has been identified as the preferred location for an indoor basketball and multipurpose sports court complex.
The indoor facility will include 4 x indoor courts for basketball and netball, all access change facilities, cafรฉ and meeting places for the community. It is proposed as stage 1 of the sports precinct masterplan. We are looking for your input to inform the development.
An indoor swimming pool and aquatic facility is proposed for future stage 2 works, including lap pool, leisure pools, learn to swim pools, gym and
multi-purpose rooms for community classes or team meetings to be held.
With the inclusion of Site No 2., the sports hall and pool hall could be sited to accommodate a large Lawn Bowls facility with clubhouse.
A single pedestrian sunshade canopy would link the three areas for easy access by all. Please let us know your ideas via the website.
Maddingley Park, is a large community park in Bacchus Marsh, well used for cricket, football, tennis and picnics. It combines passive leisure and active recreational spaces for the community. We seek community and stakeholder comments and ideas for how best to improve the parkโs existing facilities and garden landscape.
Pepper Tree Park, Bacchus Marsh is the site of the existing outdoor pool. With the proposal of a future pool facility at Taverner Street, we seek comment on options for the existing pool site. The wider park has open, passive recreational areas and could be improved with your ideas and comments.
Options would retain the large car parking area and entry from Grant Street.
Mill Park, Ballan is getting a refresh of the existing outdoor pool with a splash park for water play. Your feedback and ideas for the park design are important to us.
We propose the existing playground will be upgraded and a shade structure constructed overhead for all day weather protection.
The open areas of the wider park would include teenage targeted facilities of half-court basketball (3x3 court), a skate park circuit and pump track options for BMX.
Again, please refer to the website link that allows you to view the design options for each site, however these options are by no means โfinalโ and are just a place to start. We would therefore like to invite you to take a look, see what you like and donโt like about the proposed design direction for each site and make any suggestions or identify any things you would like added or taken into consideration.
If your group or club would like a separate session with Peddle Thorp, this could be facilitated via an online meeting. All requests for a meeting should be made via return email.
The social Pinpoint Portal will remain open until Sunday 19 April 2020.
We look forward to working together to achieve a fantastic new facility for Bacchus Marsh and the community.
Regards.
Peddle Thorp Architects.
