We're proud to celebrate NAIDOC Week with a stunning commissioned artwork by Cheryl Moggs OAM entitled 'Visions of Growth – Economic Prosperity'.

The section of the artwork depicts the idea of community and the concept of one, which perfectly embodies NAIDOC Week's spirit of coming together to honour the rich history, vibrant culture, and achievements of First Nations peoples.

We acknowledge and respect the traditional lands and cultures of First Nations peoples in Australia and globally and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We recognise First Nations peoples' long standing and ongoing spiritual connects to land, sea, community and country.

Today marks the beginning of NAIDOC Week, a week where we celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

It's an opportunity for all of us to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.

This year's theme, 'For Our Elders' is depicted in artwork by the winner of the NAIDOC 2023 poster competition, Bobbi Lockyer.

Coburns acknowledges the Wurundjeri people, who are the traditional owners of the land our centre is situated on. We acknowledge and pay respect to the past, present and future Traditional Custodians and Elders of this land.

Today marks the beginning of Reconciliation Week, a time where we pause and learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements. At the same time, we explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

In recognition, we have commissioned Cheryl Moggs OAM, a proud descendant of the Bigambul people of Goondiwindi to create an artwork embodying the concept of reconciliation. Entitled ‘Yarning for One', the artwork encourages us all to ‘yarn together to create a new shared songline'. A songline is a story that is connected through time, space and people. Within the artwork, the U-shape design represents the new songline that we can create if we yarn for one purpose.

Coburns Central acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, who are the traditional owners of the land our centre is situated on. We acknowledge and pay respect to the past, present and future Traditional Custodians and Elders
of this land.
