Today marks the beginning of Reconciliation Week, a time where we pause and learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements. At the same time, we explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
In recognition, we have commissioned Cheryl Moggs OAM, a proud descendant of the Bigambul people of Goondiwindi to create an artwork embodying the concept of reconciliation. Entitled ‘Yarning for One', the artwork encourages us all to ‘yarn together to create a new shared songline'. A songline is a story that is connected through time, space and people. Within the artwork, the U-shape design represents the new songline that we can create if we yarn for one purpose.
Coburns Central acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, who are the traditional owners of the land our centre is situated on. We acknowledge and pay respect to the past, present and future Traditional Custodians and Elders
of this land.
