BBRRRR! BEANIES? Already? Beanies to Aussie Cod fisho's mean, the BIG GIRLS are up to play, and, recent days will have that verified as per pics below. Robinvale thru to the SA border has many Oversize Cod up for it. Locally, several large Cod have been landed. Trolled hardbodies by Bespoke Lures JD Eddy Lures Australian Crafted Lures- aclures Coddog Lures White Crow Lures all accounting for fish, Cast Spinnerbaits and Scope hairball style presentations are all accounting for decent fish of recent. Some other brave anglers, also tempting large fish, by way of light line and small vibe style lures, this is a great way to keep warm and get Blood pumping. Our Weather gods will see to an OK opening to Winter, short term with no Frosts on the radar yet and little to no rain. A Full moon this weekend could be argued as a traditional kickoff for the serious Cod anglers, we will see. Golden Perch have been going silly, Bottle bend, Redcliffs, Merbein, Wentworth, Lock 9 and 8 all fishing well right now. Many very large fish amongst them, most, far too big and fatty to keep, but, great fun catching. Vibes and Spinnerbaits, both working well. Models from Profishent Tackle Jackall Australia Rapala Tackle Tactics Bassman Spinnerbaits (Official) AusSpin Lures Spinwright Lures in stock. For the Baiters, Scrub worms and Shrimp are doing well, we have plenty in stock. Golden Perch 30cm is the minimum, 40cm are the keepers, 45cm+ are the breeders and do not eat well. Long weekend is here next week, Fuel is plentiful (although still slightly elevated) Fishin' is good. GO GET 'EM

Water temperature is down, Barometer is up, Native's are a GO. Great to see many locals in gloating of great catches again. Water clarity is a blessing compared to the slime and snot of the last 3 months. Flows are low, water levels near Weir pools are stable, but, upstream a little, the water level is very low. A small push is on it's way to Mildura and Wentworth at time of scribe, that can only mean Fantastic fishing for the next couple of weeks. Many, Locally caught Large Cod of recent and many hundreds of solid Golden Perch also are doing the Social circuits. Scope baits, Cod jigs, Spinnerbaits and Vibes are in good stocks to us right now, so, pick your weapon and have a crack before the weather goes Bad or the Weir gets pulled. Coddog Lures Profishent Tackle Bassman Spinnerbaits (Official) Spinwright Lures AusSpin Lures have all been good to us recently. Weather expected in upper teens to mid twenties by 10 day forecast, nil rain, huge barometer for a good bit of that and only a tiny bit of wind this weekend. GO GET 'EM

Beam me up, or is that FUEL me up Scotty. WOW, how the world can change very quickly. Council assures us, local Fuel supply is good to go for Easter. The pictured example of a more expensive outlet that has already passed on the reductions. EASTER in Mildura traditionally welcomes anything that consumes a lot of Fuel, Boat race (formerly Ski race), Drags, Speedway, Outback touring, Fishing, Boating, Skiing, All Seasons Houseboats houseboating and the list goes on. For us, life is simple. A worm, a hook and a sinker can turn a kids day into Gold. Golden Perch have been responding well to a bait, although a little slow on lures, as are Cod. That stated, the water temp has dropped a lot with cooler nights of recent and it may be enough to have the Big Girls up and about. There are a lot of Big fish in the area, we just need conditions to inspire an Autumn bite. Right now we have plenty of Sunraysia's finest Worms, lots of Shrimp, snack bait sized Yabbies and walls full of fantastic Aussie made lures. Few piccies below of recent stocks by Tuckertime Lures Cod feast and Livebaits Bassman Spinnerbaits (Official) new Cod Kruncha's and Scopebaits Jackall Australia tn60 and 70's Baitsanity Australia explorer's Assassin Spinnerbaits in 2oz also and some Outlaw Spinnerbaits Weather Gods are set to treat us well with high 20's, low winds and a good barometer into next week. Get in town early for Mildura City Heart Show n Shine Friday morning and hunt to find all 5 Easter eggs to win a Hamper, head down the waterfront Mildura Ski Club for the boat race Saturday and Sunday, maybe lunch or dinner at Hog's Breath Cafe Mildura they're open from 11.30am. Well folks, just guessing that Summer arrived, albeit a little late, fortunately our air conditioning does us OK. Water temperatures are now past healthy for large fish, but despair not, March is not far away, the big girls have not shifted house and will be up to play soon. Please DO NOT become another of the most hated or the central talking point of Floaters as per several examples over the last 3 weeks. We have had a barrage of very unhappy Fisho's venting to us of recent conduct, Don't add yourself to that list. On a more positive note, Golden Perch have come back out of the Darling and are thick and large in all of your expected places. Vibes accounting for plenty, 13 Fishing Australia Eldiablo 75's, Jackall Australia Tn 70, Profishent Tackle Vixens, Duo G vibe 68 all being popular. Crankbait's bibbed by Barambah Lures 13 Jabberjaws, Codger 70's and Zerek Slickbacks all working well. Worm's continue to be a struggle country wide. Right now we have plenty of Scrubbies, Euro's, Bait Yabbies and limited Shrimp, we expect supply will be stable thru and past Easter for us. Incoming stock soon, Darkside flies, Australian Crafted Lures- aclures Bassman Spinnerbaits (Official) swim jigs, Mikado MCT. Recent arrivals, some pictured below, with fantastic new colours from Bespoke Lures White Crow Lures new Swim jigs by Bassman Spinnerbaits (Official) and fluffballs by Spinwright Lures Wrap up for the travellers, SA west side of York peninsula is fishing well from Point Turton up to Wallaroo, South of Kangaroo island has schools of Southern Bluefin tuna on the move, spotter planes all over them this week, possibly a little wide for most trailer boats but a good sign for Autumn to come. Keep Cool and GO GET 'EM

What will Cod love this weekend? New moon, Barometer drop and a thunderstorm, just maybe.
Trolled lures, Cast spinnerbaits or a lazy bait will work, a well presented Jig being the most effective.
Xmas countdown is near, School kids are out and whilst they can’t be used as a livebait we have plenty of Scrub worms, Euro crawlers, African nightcrawlers. Including bulk packs, live Yabbies and frozen Shrimp while stocks last.
Panic not, many great gift ideas are instore, Fishing shirt, Camping torch by Ledlenser, a folding blade by KOI Knives a Tackle box, Maui Jim, a Hat, alternately a GIFT VOUCHER allowing a self pick solution.
One hotly discussed topic of recent, referencing some well documented unluck by a couple of experienced locals is, the benefit of using BARBLESS hooks. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, they have a place and it is not in your finger or head, or at least if it is, you can get ‘em out. Was fish conservation mentioned too?
Friday freight is done for a few weeks now and we are plump.
Thermos Australia drinkware, simply the best available and you won’t need a mortgage to buy it.
Bassman Spinnerbaits (Official) Wake Walkers and Spinjigs just arrived, look great and have caught some decent fish too.
Irukandji Tackle Nimbus, Sicario and Megaprawn look the goods and have too, caught quality fish.
SHIMANO Australia Fishing Icebox giveaway is in full swing, Shimano purchases of over $50 go in the draw to conclude on Monday 22nd
Closed Xmas day, Open 9 – 2pm Boxing day

Well folks, the WIND machine continues, resultantly, there has been little to report on the SPRING YELLA scene, we expect Spring will arrive soon. COD season is now a go. Early reports of several local fish 70 - 80cm amidst poor conditions. Water Temperatures remain 4c lower than tradition, hence lessening the stress to Larger fish whilst releasing, a good thing right. Barometer looks OK for this weekend with 30kmh winds behind it, AGAIN. Water flows are easing, likely 7 - 8GL by next week, further out of town the Darling is easing to 4 GL and likely will clean up below Lock 10, 9 etc soon. A recent visitor had trouble accommodating Maui Jim but was up for a chat and Gracious enough to invite us to Hog's Breath Cafe Mildura for a feed. Our Scope wall has been growing steadily with some quality local and import products. The Gods of Aussie lure makers have been shining on us with shiny things, we are well stocked with Bassman Spinnerbaits (Official) AusSpin Lures Spinwright Lures Aussie Timber handcrafted lures by Bespoke Lures Lighthouse Lures Gidgee Lures BUNJi LURES Moulded plastic by Aussies including JD Eddy Lures Australian Crafted Lures- aclures Coddog Lures Kuttafurra lures White Crow Lures Swagman Lures E.S. Koolabung Lures Many other import brands also available. 13 Fishing Australia El Diabolo and Magic Man have been standout lipless crankbaits, smashing the timid Golden Perch and Jackall Australia TN60 and 70's are always popular. 23/09/2025

Local fisho activity has been slow, weather cycles of persistent wind are not helping and the Golden Perch are wondering where Y'all are. They've still got to eat you know. Bait land based anglers are doing well on Lock island and around Merbein common area. Luring has been a challenge with dirtier water and dropping flows although they will still respond to a cast vibe with or without rattles. Best results are to be away from the boat, on a slow roll, late morning thru midday. This week coming off a Full moon with winds from the NW leading into the weekend shall see to warm days. Water flow has slowed a little from the recent flush, this will see sediment settle along with water temperatures rising slowly, note temps are around 1.5c cooler than last year at the same time with an expected flurry of Yella activity from 17c onward. Large Golden Perch breeders are full of Roe in Spring, so a suggested best practice of no barbs or squashed at least will help lessen handling time for a quick unharmed release via a fish friendly knotless net. Cod are on the nest, targeting them in closed season makes us all look bad. Generally speaking a trolled or cast lure of less than 60mm, a small frame spinnerbait or any lipless crankbait tied to 15 or 20lb leader would be considered to not be Targetting Cod. We have plenty of Scrub worms, Euro crawlers and African night crawlers, whilst Yabbies are still slow and Shrimp small. New stuff to us recently, Barmah Hats, Swagman Lures Jumbucks, Duo lures Apex and G fix vibes from Japan domestic market colours, Lighthouse Lures Trout flies in the Desert, go figure. Top up from Outlaw Spinnerbaits Olight Australia Javelot Warrior and Baton, Leatherman tools, Ledlenser headlights and torches and some high quality Aussie made KOI Knives Some fantastic new stuff and great gift ideas amongst it. Cod are nesting leaving no time for resting. Golden Perch have not been away on holiday, they've been patiently awaiting the Angling world to wake up out of Winter. Several reports instore of 15, 20 and more in an afternoon session of recent. Jackall's, 13 Fishing El Diabolo's, Profishent Vixen's are always popular along with Blades by TT and Flash union. Keep an eye out for Duo Apex lures due in coming weeks, the author has had several memorable catches on these recently but the Aussie colour range is, at best average, so we have been given access to the Japanese range of colours, Yella's and Cod have been all over these prototypes. Tiny top up stock from Jackall Australia Profishent Tackle Tackle Tactics . Weather gods will shine on us this weekend, mid to high 20's are likely at time of scribe and coming on to a Full moon with Easterly winds forecast it should be an OK barometer. Get your light gear out, Check your line, freshen up your leaders, check your small lure clip stash, squash your barbs down (or grind 'em off with a Dremel ) and clip on a Vibe, it's that time of year to Bob a log, Troll over some Timber or blind cast into structure, they are Hangry right now. Still a bit cool for yabbies, we have plenty of Scrub worms, African nightcrawlers and Euro crawlers. GO GET 'EM
