We’re so excited to share that our Contour Clasp Bra has been selected as a Finalist in the Clean + Conscious Awards 2026 ✨💚

Anyone who knows me knows how much I care about the environment, ocean conservation and creating healthier, more sustainable basics for kids and teens - so recognition in the sustainability space always feels extra special.

As a small Australian brand, a lot of thought and care goes into every detail, from the design, the fabrics we choose right through to our plastic-free ethos across our business and supply chain, so we’re incredibly grateful to be recognised alongside so many inspiring brands.

A big thank you to for celebrating businesses working towards a healthier and more conscious future 🌿

Despite the rising flood of fast fashion coming into Australia, there's little regulation on hazardous substances in clothes.

Most parents probably don’t realise that many school uniforms in Australia are made largely from polyester - a plastic fibre derived from fossil fuels.

School uniforms are often expensive because they go from factory through to a supplier (who makes quite a large profit) and then onto the school, who sometimes marks them up for fundraising.

The cost often hides the reality - that uniforms are often made from very cheap, plastic materials.

These fabrics are popular because they’re durable, and often wrinkle resistant and stain resistant but only because of their chemical coatings such as Teflon technology. And they also trap heat, can irritate sensitive skin, and shed microplastics when worn and washed.

After months of research, conversations with suppliers and sampling fabrics, we’re about to trial something different at my kids’ regional NSW public school: 100% organic cotton polo shirts.

Natural fibres aren’t perfect.
They wrinkle more easily.
They stain more easily.
And they don’t stay bright for decades.

But they are breathable, biodegradable and free from plastic, which feels like a better option for something our kids wear every single day.

This small trial is just a first step, but hopefully it opens the door to healthier, more sustainable school uniforms in the future.

If your school would like to explore a short-run organic cotton uniform trial, feel free to reach out. We're cutting out the middleman supplier to make this option more affordable!

I see it everywhere...

Brands using organic cotton (or cotton)…
then slapping on a big polyester waistband. For the logo.
(and often to save money.)

I’m not here to call it greenwashing.
Most brands probably don’t realise that “soft, stretchy” band is actually quite a toxic plastic.

Polyester. Nylon. Elastane.
Disperse-dyed plastic.
Sitting on your skin all day, every day.

At Billie Green, we skip exposed plastic waistbands altogether -
folded stitching for girls, fabric-encased elastics for boys.

Less irritation. Less plastic. More comfort.

We make safe, comfy underwear for young Aussies, aged 7 right through to women’s & men’s medium.

Plus high quality socks with zero polyester or nylon (US 5 – US 13).

No logos or digging bands.
Just underwear that actually feels good to wear.

Because honestly… no one’s looking anyway.

Girls starting out don’t need a professional bra fitting 🤍

Most tweens and teens just want comfort, coverage and privacy — not wires, padding or awkward fittings with strangers.

If a bra is wire-free, soft, breathable and designed to grow with them, sizing is simple:
a measuring tape at home + a clear size guide is enough.

Bodies change quickly at this age. The “perfect size” today won’t be the perfect size next term — and that’s normal.

✨ No one needs a bra ✨
The right time is when they want one.
The right fit is when it feels good.

Save this for later or share it with another mum navigating first bras 💚
