What’s on your perfect burger? 🍔🤤 With footy finals fever in full swing, we couldn’t resist sharing this mouth-watering burger recipe from Justine Schofield ✨✨
Makes: 6
Ingredients:
500g good quality beef mince
1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
1 brown onion, finely chopped
6 slices American slice cheese
1-2 tomatoes, sliced
6 slices of canned beetroot
½ an iceberg lettuce, finely shredded
A few big dollops of tomato sauce, mayonnaise
1 tsp Dijon or American mustard
½ tsp of your favourite chilli condiment (optional)
2 tbs pickles, chopped plus 2 tsp of the pickling liquid
6 soft burger buns
Salt and pepper
Method:
For the sauce, combine tomato sauce, mayonnaise, mustard, chilli condiment (optional) and pickles and the pickling liquid.
Portion the mince into six even balls and flatten into thin round patties in between two sheets of baking paper. These patties should be roughly the size of the burger buns or a little bigger as they will shrink while cooking. Season with salt and pepper.
Heat a large bbq flat plate over a medium-high and lightly oil. Add the patties and divide the onions on to each patty. Using a wide spatula, squash the onions into patty. Turn patties and fry for a minute then add the cheese. Cover loosely with BBQ hood
to help melt the cheese.
Toast the burger buns on the cut sides.
Place sauce on the bottom and top of the burger bun. Add lettuce, meat patty, beetroot and tomato. Sandwich with top bun and serve.
