Coming back to the mountains this weekend for redemption in the miler, looks to do one better and build from some key learnings last year.

A less than conventional build, though inspiring to understand the lengths to which one will go to commit to the goal and show those around them what’s possible when you lock in and “grind it out”.

Ryan credits wife Josie as the most unbelievable support crew at home and on race day and is ready to embrace all 161.1km around the Bluey’s this weekend!

UTA100 is iconic.

The diversity of terrain, steep climbs, technical descents and exposed fire trails will test you both physically and mentally.

Though it’s much of the breathtaking scenery you would otherwise never be able to experience without that exclusive bib that really draws people in.
hand08 ‘s appreciation for the Blue Mountains trails has been cultivated over a lifetime of experiences, marvelling from the valley floor.

Well before the climbs and with more precision than any technical decent, the attention to detail it takes to really immerse oneself in a proper Blue Mountains mission has become the regular for in his preparation for UTA50.

The meticulous planning is essential to truly enjoy what we love most - letting go & just running!

Bluey’s local and mountain Queen, talks to the significance of in the Aussie trail calendar.

It was pretty special to spend some time with Sara on the weekend soaking in some of the amazing sights, especially the infamous Furber Steps.

Stepping up in distance this year tackling the 50k, we are excited to see Sara pair her amazing speed and climbing ability with that Blue Mountain backyard knowledge.

Why do you run?

“Honestly, to escape responsibility. And I mean that in the best way. Running is white space and time to think, away from screens, emails and the never ending to do list. I’m doing a PhD at the moment so having time to just let my brain percolate is really valuable. Beyond that it’s about connecting with nature, exploring new places and meeting people. Running really is sacred time for me.”
