DISTRIBUTION TOOLS.

Distribution refers to how the coffee grounds sit in your portafilter.

Distribution matters. An unevenly packed puck with voids, static clumps, or mounds can encourage channeling, producing a shot where some coffee is under-extracted while other areas are over-extracted.

There are different types of distribution tools to address two seperate distribution issues within espresso preparation.

The WDT TOOL: For internal distribution & de-clumping — breaking up dense clumps and redistributing grounds throughout the depth of the basket.

The Leveller/Distributor: Surface/edge-to-edge distribution — making the coffee bed uniform, level and ready for tamping.

The two different types of tools are complementary, addressing different stages of the espresso preparation process.

COFFEE BEAN STORAGE.

You invested in great coffee. Don't let poor storage ruin it.

Generic containers are made to store almost anything. Coffee beans are different.

Dedicated coffee bean storage canisters are designed to provide a stable environment and combat the four elements that make coffee become stale: oxygen, moisture, heat and light.

Most are designed with a one way valve to let CO2 escape, but stop air getting in. This slows oxidation and in turn helps retain the aroma and complexity of the bean.
An airtight vessel is essential, as moisture impacts the flavour and quality of the bean - particularly important in humid environments.
Dark or opaque canisters will help to block out light, more importantly UV exposure, which accelerates degradation.

Look for bean storage that addresses these concerns, while making storage simpler and convenient.

A coffee canister isn't just another container. It's a small upgrade that makes a noticeable difference to your coffee routine.

Because better coffee starts with better storage.

Australia, meet the Lelit Mara X3! ☕

Last week we hosted the official Australian launch of the Lelit Mara X3 at our French Forest store, and it was a fantastic night. Around 39 guests joined us to see the new machine up close, chat with the team, taste some beautiful coffee, and help us celebrate this exciting release.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along — your questions, energy, and enthusiasm made the night. And a big congratulations to our lucky raffle winner, who took home a brand new Mara X3!
