🥩🔥 TASMANIA — WHAT’S GOING IN YOUR JERKY OR BILTONG? 🔥🥩
The 2026 Inaugural Tasmanian Jerky Prize is coming to Highlands BushFest in Bothwell, and we want to see Tasmanians getting creative!
Jerky certainly doesn’t have to mean beef. Tasmania has access to some fantastic meats, and this is your chance to turn them into something special.
For JERKY, think:
🦌 Venison – lean, rich and perfect for bold flavours
🦘 Wallaby – a truly Tasmanian option
🐐 Goat – lean with plenty of flavour
🐟 Fish – something different that could really stand out
🥩 Beef – the classic for a reason
🐑 Lamb – rich and full flavoured
🐖 Pork – great for sweet, smoky or spicy recipes
And then there’s BILTONG! 🇿🇦🥩
Great biltong starts with quality meat. Beef is the traditional favourite, particularly lean cuts such as topside and silverside. Venison can also make exceptional biltong, while other lean game meats can offer something completely different.
We’d especially love to see entrants experiment with Tasmanian wild game. This competition is about showcasing not only your skills, but also the incredible produce and wild game we have right here in Tasmania.
🏆 FOUR major prize categories are up for grabs: Judge Awarded Jerky, Judge Awarded Biltong, People’s Choice Jerky and People’s Choice Biltong.
📍 Highlands BushFest – Bothwell
