Margaret Floy Washburn was the first woman to earn a PhD in psychology in the US, back in 1894 at a time when some universities wouldn’t even allow women to enrol.
One of the ideas she became known for was the connection between movement and thought. Her work proposed that thinking wasn’t completely separate from what our bodies were doing; movement was part of the process.
