Made in a Pleasance

Made in a Pleasance A pleasance is a place of quiet beauty and sanctuary. My handmade greeting cards are unique and refl The cards cost $8.00 each and measure 140mm x 140mm.

I love the nostalgic vintage era and my cards reflect my love of this, my love of family and my collector's nature. The cards feature items such as vintage sewing notions, old photos, train tickets, ephemera, lace, sheet music and old badges. The cards are made to different themes, such as sewing, cards for men (because men are hard to buy for), a bit girlie, and family life. Each card is unique a

nd individual and are blank on the inside. They are made on quality cardstock with a good quality envelope and enclosed in cellophane. To purchase please contact me through Facebook or on my email [email protected] I will ask you to cover the cost of postage.

Not much happening with the cards at the moment as there has been a bit of a disaster in the garden that's been keeping me busy most days but I did make these two wedding cards.
Amongst my collection of ephemera I have several very old wedding invitations and decided the time has come to use them.

Best wishes for a happy and relaxing Easter,
Gayle

No cards or gardening today. I'm a member of my local historical society and each year we have a stand promoting the Dandenongs and its history.
It's a beautiful sunny day and I love watching the cars drive in and picking out which one I'd choose.

Have a happy Sunday

Phew! A break for some water ... so what did I find in the Pleasance?
A beautiful red dahlia ...nearly finished now, but it's been covered in flowers, white daisies, purple salvias and the bees loving the purple daisies.

Unfortunately I also found some plants that have been eaten quite brutally by the deer. I don't mind all the rabbits in the garden (although you have to watch your step for the holes everywhere) but the deer are really destructive.
There is also a huge pile of branches from the branch that broke last week from the ash tree. A couple of nights ago we heard a big noise and it came down and went through the garage roof. Now it's an insurance job and lucky for me they clear away all the branches....one job ticked off the list.

Back to it, enjoy the sunshine,
Gayle

A lovely sunny day here, Autumn is well and truly on its way and I've bought home all my treasures from the storage unit where they have been safe and secure during the bushfire season.
It's always enjoyable bringing them home and then rearranging my displays.
And then a bit of time to make a few cards.
Here are a few photos and I'm off to tackle some weeds and the Japanese Anemones that spread like crazy through the garden...

Have a lovely day,
Gayle

Here are some more cards in a similar style....I've really been enjoying making these.

I've been doing them in between gardening jobs. This morning a huge branch broke on our ash tree. The tree is about 25 metres tall and the weight of the rain water cracked the branch. It didn't hit the ground (luckily as it would have crashed down on Peter's car) but now we need to get an arborist to cut it down. There's always something needs doing.

So after a busy morning I've been playing with the cards this afternoon.

There are quite a few things I like doing, obviously making cards is one of them. But I also enjoy sewing and have done so since I was a little girl.
Years ago when I was living in Traralgon, I had a business selling handmade toys.
I also enjoy gardening (just love hydrangeas especially as they age and go green), knitting, coffee and a chat.

One of my cousins was doing some slow stitching and I was really interested in the whole idea as hand sewing is my preferred sewing thing.
So I've combined some slow stitching with the card making. I hope you like them as much as I do.

Happy crafting

I just read everyone's comments from yesterday
Thank you so much for them. I will admit the last year has been very difficult healthwise, but I'm trying to get on top of things.

As the old saying goes " getting old is not for the faint-hearted"

Lots of best wishes and sincere thanks,
Gayle

Last Sunday the Kalorama Collective held a craft de-stash market. Thinking this was a great opportunity to clear out some cupboards I booked a table.

I was determined not to buy anything but when I found a stall selling vintage lace, buttons and buckles....well I just couldn't resist.
I can't wait to get started on some cards using these pieces.

The market was very successful (I did sell off some items) and they are going to hold more during the year. I will publish the dates when I know them. There was a great amount of knitting yarns and patchwork supplies.

Here are some lilies in the garden. It's funny, so much of the garden is barely clinging to life and the lilies are thriving.
I wish I could say the same for myself.

My apologies for not posting for a very long time.
Best wishes to everyone for a happy, healthy and peaceful new year.
I've heard from a couple of people that I'm not making cards any more. Although I haven't made any for a few months I intend to get back to them soon and will be a trader at the Waverley Quilt Show on 2nd and 3rd May.
If you are a member of any club, group or organisation and are looking for a trader please contact me on 0417806079 or email gayle.inapleasance .com

The Pleasance isn't green any more. This photo was taken in early December. Brown, crunchy and clinging to life is a more apt description.

Best wishes to all,
Gayle

Belated wishes for a happy new year. It's been a bit of a rocky start but let's hope it gets better.
There are not too many plans for my cards this year. I'm at the Draughthorse Festival at the historic homestead Mont de Lancy, Wandin on the 1st March and then I'm a trader at Waverley Patchworker's Summer Gathering on the 15th March.

And then....... nothing. Obviously it's going to be a quiet year. More time for gardening.

Best wishes to everyone,
Gayle

Wishing everyone a happy new year. As the song goes.... Let's hope it's a good one". Although the song continues "without any tears" it wouldn't be real life if there weren't some tears along the way, both happy and sad ones.
So let's hope there are more of the happy ones.

A few pics of the hydrangeas. They are loving this weather and there are masses of flower heads.

Best wishes,
Gayle
