❤️ 40 YEARS – WHAT AN INCREDIBLE MILESTONE! ❤️
Let me share another very special milestone in our family today…
40 years ago today, a handsome young 22-year-old man walked through the doors of Suttontown Kraft Foods, now known as Mondelēz, for his very first day of work.
That young man was my husband, Dave. ❤️
When you say 40 years, it might just sound like a number. But when you stop and think about everything that happens in a person’s life over four decades, it really is quite remarkable.
During those 40 years, we’ve watched the industry change enormously. We’ve welcomed our children into the world, watched them grow and start their own lives, and experienced the incredible joy of becoming grandparents.
We’ve also faced some of life’s hardest moments, saying goodbye to parents, family members, friends and workmates who are sadly no longer with us.
And through all of that, one thing has remained constant… Dave getting up and heading off to work.
He’s driven to work, ridden his pushbike to work (back in his younger, fitter BMX racing days! 🚴😂), worked countless shifts, changed roles within the company and adapted to all the changes that have come along.
For many years, he’s also been a union representative, standing up for his fellow workers, offering support and helping people through some of their toughest times. Something I know he has always taken seriously.
But it hasn’t all been about work.
There have been some fantastic friendships formed along the way, great nights out with workmates (and let’s just say chocolates and musical instruments were often involved! 😂🎶), wonderful children’s Christmas parties that our family looked forward to every year, plenty of laughs and memories that will stay with us forever.
Of course, there have also been uncertain times, changes, challenges and moments when the future wasn’t always clear.
Forty years in the one workplace.
Just think about that for a moment.
Forty years of early mornings, late nights, shiftwork, dedication, loyalty, friendships, challenges and showing up, day after day, year after year.
It’s not just 40 years of employment. It’s 40 years of life, woven into the history of one workplace and the people who have been part of it.
And behind those 40 years is a man who has worked hard, supported his family, stood by his mates and given so much of himself along the way.
Dave, I am incredibly proud of you. ❤️
Not just for reaching this amazing milestone, but for the man you are, the work ethic you’ve always had and the dedication you’ve shown to your family and those around you.
Congratulations on 40 incredible years, darling.
From that handsome 22-year-old young bloke to the handsome (slightly more seasoned 😂) man you are today… what a journey it’s been!
